I have a 13 year old bitch out of Real Sport and my dogs are bred along the Heli-Prop line, Real Sprort is sired by Prop, I was thinking just maybe I may get lucky and get a pup from her. I bred a female yesterday and thinking of breeding Old Smarty today. I may have chance if the old gal has no milk to grafe the pups to the younger female. Who done such a thing?

8 years old, had and raised 9 healthy pups. However , this female will never be bred again. In my opinion anything older then that , you are rolling the dice and asking for trouble.

I've got an old bitch from Mike that is going to be 12 this year. I'm going to try her on Horn if at all possible this winter for spring pups. She's fit and other than her voice gone into a raspy bawl, I think she can whelp ok.

The pup I got from Elmer out of West River Patch Belle was milked on another younger bitch he had there named Jewel. Ole Belles nipples had become bigger than your thumb due to her age and having pups, so Elmer let Jewel nurse the pups also.

I've always struggled with should I try to get one last litter out of a old bitch, or move on to see what her offspring I've got can produce?

I bred a healthy 12 year old bitch and she only threw one pup and it didn't make it. I would do it again in heart beat if the female is the right blood line and is healthy. Its hard to find or get your hands on some of these old bloodlines.

I bred her today, with a lot of hope. Smarty is in very good shape and runs every day. I seen her run for 5 hours in the afternoon heat. She has run loose all summer and has done as she pleased so long she is sure hard headed. She looks fine in every way but her color and is Grey. She runs a good race and wakes me up many time at night when come near my windrow. My fingers are crossed.
