A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
JUST HAD A BUDDY COME OVER WE DID THE TEST THE TRI TRONICS COULD OLNY REACH A MILE, BUT THE SPORT DOG COULD REACH A 1 AND A HALF WE HAD ONE HILL IN THE WAY. I ALREADY KNEW THIS BUT MY BUDDY WHO JUST SPENT 500 ON HIS TRI TRONICS SYSTEM IS PISSED
I see all this talk about the Classic 70 but what about the Trashbreaker. The reason I ask is I am planning a purchase in the next week or two and want something for a long tIme.

Depends who you ask I had a 3 dog thrashbreaker G2 before they came up with the expandable units that would reach over 1 mile, I never tested beyond it. I bought a thrashbreaker EXP when they came out and have tested it over 1 mile and it was good too. If you ask me Tritronics thrashbreakers are great but the Sportdog guys don't seem to like them
I HAVE BOTH AND LIKE BOTH BUT SPORT DOG JUST HAS A BETTER RANGE AND IS CHEEPER. THEY ALSO HAVE BETTER COSTUMER SERVICE I OLNY HAVE THE G3 TRI TRONICS I THINK THE SIZE OF THE TRITRONICS COLAR IS BETTER

Comparing the G3 unless it is the new trashbreaker G3 to a top of the line Sportdog product isn't really an apples to apples comparison. The G3 sport is an entry lever TT product and the range isn't even close to the Trashbreaker line. Which G3 do you have?

I don't think it shocks 2 dogs at a time. I'm sure somebody with the 2500 will chime in. I own the 2 mile 3200 Hound Hunter. The range is awesome!! So was the price, I think I paid a little over $400 for a 3 dog system, and I can add another collar anytime for under a $100. I went with sportdog after reading tons of negative reviews on Tri-Tronics. It sounds like the ones that work are great, but way to many problems with the newer systems.
It is hard to find a negative review on the higher-end Sportdogs, but you could write a book with Tri-Tronics.
I agree B-man, I bought a Sportdog 2500 last year for that very reason. So far I am %100 satisfied. I'm sure the Tritronics that work properly are great, but I read too much negative stuff on the boards about them.
I live back in the woods you see, my woman and the kids and the dogs and me.

wrong again it will shock all 6 seperate and we were comparing the trash breaker
Yes, the sportdog 2500 will handle six dogs individually. It really wouldn't make much sense to have to correct 2 dogs at the same time would it?
However, I believe you do loose the tone option when you extend beyond 3 dogs. I did considerable research on both and that is why I chose the trashbreaker, because I believe tone is an important training option before correction.
I have read of some of the problems you have mentioned with TT units. One thing to consider is the number of TT units out there. Proportionally there may be no more problems with TT than any other brand just more of them out there to break down. As long as they stand behind them (and from what I understand they do), if you have a problem it will be fixed.
I have no regrets with the TT trashbreaker.
