My aunt and uncle watched a black snake eat a copperhead about 18-20 years ago, at their house in Lawrence Co. KY.
They said the black snake chased the copperhead up on their carport, and trapped it in a corner. (Their carport has block around it, only one way in and out) Then it wrapped itself around it longways, like the stipes on a barber pole. After it had killed it, it coiled the copperhead up, and unrolled it as it ate it. They would have loved to have videoed it, but didn't own a camcorder back then. They are very honest people and don't tell tales.

I may be mistaken, If the black snake has a diamond head, it's an eastern king snake, round head black rat snake.
