Question

Post by Tnrabbitrunner »

Anyone out there ever heard of using Safeguard Goat Dewormer on your dogs. Was told yesterday by a fellow who raises squirrel Fiest that this is all he ever uses. Supposedly takes care of all types of worms. Just wondering if anyone else had ever heard or tried this.

Safeguard is dosed at 1ml/4.4 lb for 3 days in a row, twice daily. That is the new accepted dosage. Check the latest edition of the Merck Veterinary Manual, under Benzimidazoles (the class of drug), and you will see fenbendazole (active ingredient in Safeguard) is now dosed BID (which means twice daily).

Here is a site with an indepth look into worming. I love this site and keep it book marked.
