Is she in heat?

Post by harechaserWV »

My wife has an almost 11 month old female beagle that we thought came into heat. Last Thursday we checked on her and it had a drop of blood on it and blood down my females back from where the pup crawled over her. Some dogs have sniffed her but there hasn't been any males show up in our yard like when our last female was in heat. Anyway we have checked her every day since Friday and there hasn't been any signs that she is in heat at all. No bleeding and she isn't swollen at all. I'd really like to figure out if she is so we'll know if we can hunt her this weekend. Is it possible for a female to bleed very little on her first heat cycle?

Some bitches don't swell when they are in heat. You would be wise to keep her away from males for a few weeks or until you are positive.
