Just been picking up a few here and there, after the rains here and the warmup they should be heavy and then taper off.

I picked 225 of them this morning. After giving them all away I ended up with around 27 for myself :chef:

We have been picking more than usual this year it seems in Tennessee. I have been picking them for 30+ years. I think this is the best year I have had. I use onion sacks to help spread the spores. I also think just picking them helps spread the spores. Poplar trees are probably my favorite trees to pick around followed by hickory and sweet gum. I usually start looking in mid March when the may apples start sprouting and pick until mid April. I have always enjoyed the challenge of finding them as well as eating them. We split them down the middle. Soak them in salt water to get the bugs and slugs out. Then we salt, batter and deep fry them.
