just to clarify, The first paragraph in my last post was a qoute from Danny's post. Those are not my feelings on the subject.
I dont think size matters in most cases. That is probably the only point that Danny and I agree on regarding this issue.

NKC should step in on this issue and have the judge and breed inspector measure the winners pack,NKC beagle clubs did vote this 15 in rule and to leave it up to the handlers to call out the other guys hound, shouldnt haft to happpen.

Its a tough subject, because it all comes down to you having a real nice dog that in the back of your mind is over 15. I know this because i've had a couple that in the back of my mind i was scared to run in a hunt because you as the owner knows there is a chance its to tall. But there aint a thing we can do about this rule so here is what you do. Before you start trialing that dog measure it and measuring a dog at 8 9 months because you want to put it in a hunt for bench or field aint gonna cut it. Be a honest human being and measure the dog when it is fully grown. then if it is over sell it , keep it, i dont care. But you guys wine on here over dogs getting measured who cares. if you know theirs a chance your dog is to tall, save yourself a heartache ( and paul prevot a headache)also chip when you do get down to the finals and get measured. Like Danny said having a 13 inch dog thats a powerhouse bring it and clean clock. But dont complain you guys are making people now want to run little pack because of this. I've been trying to get some new ones in this i dont want to see a rule mess it up that is a rule and it aint going no where. Now my opinion on measuring a dog I MEASURE A DOG WHY BECAUSE EVENTUALLY SOMEONE WILL. THE ONLY REASON WHY PEOPLE DONT HAVE DOGS MEASURED IS THEIR ARE ALOT OF JUDGES THAT HAVE DOGS. YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT IM GETTING TO YOU MEASURE THEIR DOG AND IF THEY JUDGE YOU NEXT TIME OR SOME OTHER TIME YOU WONT HAVE A PRAYER EVEN IF YOU DOG DOES PLAINLY WIN. THATS WHY PEOPLE DONT HAVE DOGS MEASURED NO ONE WANTS TO SAY IT BUT THATS IT SOMEONE HAS TO STEP UP
GUYS WE NEED TO STOP THIS NON SENSE THIS IS A SPORTMANSHIP THERE ARE RULES!

You breed for the very best bloodlines to give your litter a great start .
You raise him from a pup with the very best of care , hoping all the time
that he won't go over 15 . You feed the best feed you can afford 365 days
a year 366 on leap year, you run them up all year just for this moment ,
and the "judge" stands in the road giving his best buddie the
check your hound earned  or he may have actually been the owner :eyes:

ALSO I WAS THINKING THERE WAS A NEW RULE THAT THE OWNER OF SAID HOUND HAD TO BE PRESENT ?
Correct me if I'm wrong .

IF SIZE WAS THE ONLY PROBLEM LITTLE PACK HAD I BELIEVE
THE HUNTS WOULD BE FULL .

I think the entire cast should judge together

How can an owner have to be present? If that was the case you wouldnt have any judges or dogs of owners with prior commitments.

I agree 100%.

This sport is supposed to be bettering the breed, if bigger dogs are better then why are they disqualified. To me this is hurting the breed more than helping it. In nature the bigger and stronger survive, the smaller and weak die out.

The only reason anyone would have a dog measured is because they are scared to run against it whether it be they are scared it will out jump there dog, out check there dog, or just flat out run off and leave there dog in the dust. No one measues a dog just because of a rule, the rule is just a good excuse to use.

Yes we are suppose to be bettering the breed.....but we are also suppose to be staying within the conformatin guidelines of the breed standard, which is if im not mistaken tallest at the withers of 15 ".......maybe im wrong but that is what every other registery uses, and from what i have read has been that way for a long while.

No BIG deal but with 3 different people doing the measuring it should be fairer for everyone.

The three different measurements were the result of the hound not standing properly. Had he stood properly three times, all the measurements would have been very close.
