I Regret to infom everyone UPDATED!!!

Post by jt&z's dad »

That I missed a HUGE coyote this morning. I shot and missed 4 times with my Mini-14 in .223. The worst part was he wasn't more than 25 yds out in front of me in a wide open harvested bean field.   Man those things can travel when they see you swinging a rifle there way. He started at 25yds and was gone in seconds.

I should have let him run my buddy over that had the shotgun. Oh well I bet it doesn't happen like that again...

Haven't forgot about you Danny, just a little busy with wrestling right now. Zach, Billy,Nick and Kyle all made it through regionals today and are heading to states next weekend. The m-15 crew looked pretty good today....

What loads do you use in your .223 in order to save the hide ?? I used 52g hollow point on a fox but the hide was no longer useable to me or the fox !! Thanks, Danny

Well DixieDog you were right. Traded off the Ranch rifle and bought a brand new AR (Remington V-15) with a 22" barrel and tonight I called in a big male coyote. One shot and the 50gr V-MAX flopped him right over backwards and he never even flinched. Its amazing what happens when you actually aim.... Heading north tomorrow for some hare hunting and to make a few more calls for coyotes in the morning. I'll try to get a pic posted after I get home tomorrow night. ITS GONNA BE A GREAT WEEKEND!!! Thanks for the advice DixieDog. DannyG the 50 gr v-max performed great with no exit wound. He was facing me and I got him in the neck.

that r-15 is a nice rifle... i have the 18 version with a nikon 2-7 on it... ive put alot of fur on the ground with it.... i havent had time to load for it but it will punch holes with a box black hills 68grain match grade hollow points.... i put 4 coyotes on the ground the first week i had it and none of them even moved when i shot them, no spinning or nothing just DRT....

after buying the r-15, i never pulled the tikka out of the safe.... :D if you guys want a tach driving ar-15 you need to check out dtech (mike dillon) dedicated technologies online... he is a guru on them.

Using the right gun always helps  The AR is tough to beat for a varmint rifle and the V-Max is an awesome varmint bullet. Glad you smacked a yote, that's one less to worry about
