Looking for a 13" Stud

Post by Brian Westra »

I'm lookng for a 13" stud. The traits I want are brains, hard hunt, nose and a clean running hound. Good conformation is very important also. I like black, tan and white tri's but color is lower on my list. I like a hound that can run a rabbit with some speed as long as it can run it correctly. I don't care for swingers or sloppy check work. I live in MI so I need something that can run in snow/bad conditions.

The female I want to bred is out of Jr's Top Gun Tyke x Dbl B's Miss Maggie (Lake Ogemaw Casey x Heli prop female).

I live a little south of Grand Rapids, MI and would like to find a stud with in a 3-4 hour drive.

Thanks, Brian

You might check with Gary Bidwell. He is in SE Michigan and is an officer in the Huron Valley Beage club. His Hemi dog is 13"and out of MJR Mitsou Zorro. His pups are doing pretty good trialing also.PM me if you can't get in touch with him.

Geno was sired by Ranger Dan, that might be a little close for your Tyke female. But if you want to stick with that line you might try FC Wes's Whitey who is sired by Geno. Doug Bice owns him. He finished in the 15" class but he is a small 15" hound and a probably one of the most complete hounds that has finished in the MWGDA.

Another hound that might be of interest to you is FC Shindle County Clyde ( 13' male ). He is quite abit farther then 4 hours from you, but definetely what your looking for.

Hemi is a nice hound. Definitely has the nose to run on snow.

Once upon a time, a man asked a girl " Will you marry me?" The girl said " NO." and the guy lived happily ever after and ran his dogs as much as he wanted to.

Thanks for the compliment Chris. Whitey is an exceptional dog. Like you said he is small for 15" male.

Brian, if you are interested in breeding to Whitey, shoot me a pm. If not, it would be hard to beat FC Eyers Little Roscoe, runner up Better Beagling 13" male and midwest 13" male of the year. He is also black and tan.

BJ's Fudd (IFC Haunted Hill Shaker X IFC Stoneyhill's Tamarack) is in Mi. w/ Jack Cole last I heard. He is about 13 1/2", has 2 wins, but probably too old to finish now. I was well pleased with the pups I got from him when I owned him. His dam, Tamarack, was one of the best I've ever judged; she was by IFC Trakarab Pacesetter X FC Black Point Bessie.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Looks like I'll be busy on the phone. ;) I knew you guys would give me some good options. I enjoy this research.

rb_hunter you're right about Andy. He is great to deal with. The pic at the bottom of my posts is a grand pup to Rambo.

Has anyone seen Wapojo Hummer or Branko's Cougar Magnum run?

Jr's Chilli Dog might be another options for you. He is out of Tyke I believe.... Not sure on the bottom. I have seen him run several times and the dog is the real deal....

He is the dog on the right with the blue Ribbon in this photo.

Whoops should have read your entire post... Didn't realize that bitch was out of Tyke also. Probably closer than what your looking for....

Man Ron, Chilli is huge. Who measured him? Oh, he is standing on a bigger crate. LOL
All joking aside, he is a true 13 incher. Couldn't go wrong with him or any of the above mentioned dogs. See you in about a month. Doug.
