i dont think were here pointing a finger at anyone i mean if a dogs over a dogs over its ARHA rules 15 and over we all know this its nobodys fault its just the rules but my concern is how can you measure a dog a quarter of an inch off in less than two minutes with the same judge and just by setting him on the floor now i like to be as fair and as honest and like to have a fair shake at it too just like any other guy does just like if i were to have a hound measure out then then it wouldnt run but how can you have a hound measure out standing on a table then set him on the floor and he make it??? thats my only concern ( im not saying the man who measured him didnt know what he was doing im sure he's well experienced and did know i just dont see how you can get those results i mean its same dog same measuring stand right?)

If you had a problem with how the hound was measured you should of made a protest to the MOH as soon as your hound measued out.

Im sure me or Larry would have tried to right the situation and remeasure your hound if there was a problem with the table or stand.

But i was never informed you had a problem untill i got on the internet and started reading your post.

My problem is these things need to be handled at the hunts not on the internet.
I dont know you but now i have a opinion of you that is not good and I may be wrong you may be a great guy and hopefully Ill get to meet you at a hunt sometime and talk to you and find out I had the wrong opinion of you. But when someone gets on the intenet and whines instead of making a protest at the hunt. It bothers me exspecially when i was the assistant MOH and may have been able to help you out if you would of just made a protest.

dan,i'm sorry to see he got measured out,I owned [tag]at one time and ran him in akc and ukc formats.i can't even count how many hunt's i've had him in and he never measured out,he is [tag]is a 147/8 in male,and he stands very proudand he also is a show dog has well,dan i feel real bad for you sounds like you got a raw deal.i hope the next hunt you enter him in you can have someone that can measure hounds.jeff

I can't understand how a bad platform would make your dog stand taller. Anytime a table is shaking or is slick the dog will usually cower or widen his stance to get better balance.

The MOH could do anything.
VII. Breed Inspector
A. Each club is to select a Breed Inspector for the hunt.

4. The Breed Inspector makes the final decision as to whether the challenged hound shall be allowed to hunt.

5. The Breed Inspector has the right to measure all hounds that are entered in the hunt and to disqualify any hound that, in his opinion, does not meet breed standards, or is over 15 inches at the withers.


Here is where the club messed up though:
9. When being measured, a hound shall be standing in a natural, alert position with its head up but not stretched upward and with its feet well under the hound and forelegs vertical. The hound shall be placed on a non-slippery surface at floor or ground level. The hound shall not be required to be posed, or set up as in a bench show pose by the measurer. The Breed Inspector may request the handler’s assistance in getting the hound to stand up. If the handler refuses to help then the hound is scratched and turned in to the ARHA Office for being too tall.

I would ask the watchdog commitee to not count this as being measured out due to improper measuring conditions. The hound must be measured at floor or ground level, not on a table or bench.
This is just a few facts and my opinion, not wanting to ruffle feathers of the club. Everyone needs to know the rules if you are going to have a hunt.

My name is Shannon Howard not (Willow Creek) it says it at the bottom of all my post.

Tinymwoods,If he would have made a protest with the MOH about the "slick or wobbly table" and the MOH agreed then the dog could have been remeasured,but he didnt that i know of.

If he made a protest with the MOH and was still unhappy with the outcome then he can pay $50 and file an official protest with the ARHA. (Which i hope he does so we can see what happens)

THIS IS FROM PP RULES:
"The Master of Hounds is the final authority at the hunt". If a formal protest of his decision is made to the Watchdog Committee it must be made in writing within 20 days of the hunt. The protest must state that this was a Progressive Pack hunt, give the date of the hunt, the name of the club hosting the hunt, the name of the Master of Hounds, the rule the protester believes was violated, and a short description of the situation that led to this formal protest. Club presidents have copies of the protest form that must be used if an official protest is made to the Watchdog Committee.

4. Protests are to be sent to the Chairman of the Board and copies to the NKC/ARHA Home Office.

5. The person making the protest must deposit a check or money order for $50.00 dollars when that person files the protest. The deposit shall be returned to the person who filed the protest only if the Watchdog Committee rules in his/her favor. The check or money order shall be made out to ARHA Progressive Pack Special Fund.

When I called I was at the most 5min. from the club & yes I seen you bring in the dog unless you had 2 dogs measure out that day.

Why are you getting so defensive Im just trying to get to the bottom of this and find out what really went on.
Since i was assistant MOH.

Im not blaming you for anything just trying to help.
There are ways to go about taking care of these problems at the hunt.

I called & talked with the MOH and he said you did say something to him but never said you were wanting to protest it.

If your not making an official protest then this is a dead subject see ya around.

I think alot of times better communication is helpful. Just curious, was this LP or PP? I posted LP rules and they may not be the same. LP rules does not allow measuring to be questioned by master of hounds as I have read it, but I may be wrong.
