Re: AKC measuring at Jessamine Co.
Okay, in the grand spectrum of field trialing/beagling I am still relatively new to the sport(8-10 years at it). I started trialing spo in PA, the same crap goes on there. It happens at little pack where I trial now(limited trials). Danny I have only seen you once, not met you so you don't know me. It was at the Springfield club last year. Don't take this the wrong way, but I and everyone else knows how little an inch or an inch and a quarter is. Some of us know how BIG an inch is. Sucks when you got a great one that goes over the 15. Point is one could make a 15 inch dog squat to thirteen inches. One can make a 16 inch dog squat to 14 3/4. Who freakin cares at this point. If the dog is that great, go beat them in the 15 inch class. Heck, go find a thirteen inch dog to beat them in that class. Finding the next good one is half the fun anyway. I am sure the dog is great,as everyone says. But if it is over it is just that, OVER. My 15 1/2 inch dog is over weather he is good or not, winning or not. Oh that's right, my bad he won't be winning because he won't be trialed........because I know he is over. Time to flip this dead horse over and start beating the other side cause there aint much left.

What difference does it make what anyone else did? I don't understand where you are going with this. Are you saying that because others ran questionable dogs that it was okay for you to? It isn't okay for you OR them to do it. It looks like 4 of you were prevented from it this weekend. I'm sure you didn't get worse treatment than they did. You all measured out of the 13's.am i the only guy that ran a questionable dog?
By your own admittance, you've been running that dog at least 2 years after you watched other judges measure him out. The dog is over 14". You knew this 2 years ago but kept throwing him at judges with every intention of running him as a 13. Some judges were lax and others too lazy or rushed to make you make the dog stand, and he slid through...a lot. My thinking is suck it up and run him where he belongs now. Call it a day, ya know?
Also, we did not make this thread about you, either. There were eleven posts made without mentioning your name (or anyone else's) before you put yourself in the middle of it and made it "all about Danny." So, if you can't get Bandit finished in the 15's, don't be on here whining that he got a bad rap from the board.

If you go back and read I think you will find that there were NO names mentioned untill you made a post ON THE VERY FIRST PAGE!

I can't believe you're worried about fairness to other dogs...lol. The logic just......astounds me.the only way to be fair to all the dogs is to strip the old cards, but dont issue a new one for the next class, that still leaves it open for guys with 13 1/2 dogs to get a 15 in card by the old method, that way they dont have to worry about measuring under..........
Re: AKC measuring at Jessamine Co.
If you do not feel that you can win with a 14in dog in a 15in class, you do not have much faith in your dogs ability.

the 15 in dogs are not what scares me,it is the 16 and over dogs i am worried about........APFII wrote:If you do not feel that you can win with a 14in dog in a 15in class, you do not have much faith in your dogs ability.
i think bandit will do ok in the 15 in class under some judges and not other, what i mean by this is,judges that judge a clean tight check tight line control dog will like bandit, but in the big males, the majority line front end dogs, and bandit cant foot with them,he could before he got ran over by a truck...........
bandit is too clean and conservative for what is runnin in todays 15 in class,i will try though, that is all i can do......................
so,what is everyones opinion of my earlier post?.....................
danny vansickle wrote:i just thought of something that needs to be addressed............
ok,there was 4 dogs stripped of thier 13 in cards yesterday, now, they will be issued a 15 in card,so,if,and this is a big if,if akc does like they said they would, what will happen to the 15 in dogs that are measured out?by making our dogs official 15,this takes away our right to run 13 in and take a chance at the stake, but,if they strip the big dogs of thier 15 in cards, will they be banned from running perion,or will they still be able to run and hope for the best at the stakes?
i mean,if they are goin to make it impossible for us to run 13 in class perminately, why should the big dogs still have the chance to run?i dont think it would be fair to ban them perminately, cause you measure any dog before runnin it wiol usually measure bigger then after like for the winners pack..........

Re: AKC measuring at Jessamine Co.
Why would you want them to not give you a 15" card? If your dog wont stand then you wont have to worry about measuring out of the 15" class. If they didnt give you a 15" card and simply just took your 13" card would you continue to try to run in the 13" class and hope you get a judge that will measure you in????????
I think if a dog that has a 15" card and get measured out by a AKC rep then they should not be allowed to run at all. JMO.

Now you know how the 13" dog owners felt when they drew out with your big dog. Just sayin'.the 15 in dogs are not what scares me,it is the 16 and over dogs i am worried about........

The only 16" dogs running in the trials are the ones that squat when they are in their natural position. They only measure 16" if you stack them up. It's only fair that you have to run against them or when you get beat will you start whining about their size?

Re: AKC measuring at Jessamine Co.
If Bandit is as good as he seems to be, and he must be, he should finish in the 15" class. I just finished one that measured between 13 1/8 to 14 1/4. He was a second or third dog speed wise but turned better then the rest. And yes those measurements were correct, over an inch difference in the year it took me to finish him. Don't give up on the dog because he may not be a front runner. The dog with the most brains is gonna win in the long run.
Re: AKC measuring at Jessamine Co.
What will happen to dogs that measure out in the 15 inch class by AKC reps. Will they loose their cards and be unable to hunt any more?

danny, look i don't know you, but i've seen you and your dog at a couple of trials, but if you are a seriously trialer and run a true 13" hound this would be good news for you, like it is for everybody else that runs 13" hounds. even the playing feild for everybody, i hope they stick with what they are doing, its the best thing thats happend to our sport in a long time, and they need to keep going with it.

Re: AKC measuring at Jessamine Co.
first thing is there is a big difference in 13 - 14 and 14 - 16+,and another thing is bandit is not 14 inches,i dont care what mel stewart said, shure he measured 14 1/4 the way he had him all jacked up and since when do you lower the bar with your hand to where it barely touches his hair then measure it?it is to the withers, bandiuts hair is a good 1/2 to 3/4 in thick, not to mention,he was very heavy wich adds size..........Bev wrote:Now you know how the 13" dog owners felt when they drew out with your big dog. like i said,i will have him hard and ran up,in better shape then now at central ill,i invite anyone to measure him, acctually,i would like to see stoney branch do it,and bev if you pop in,you can toif you get him 14 or over in natural stance,i will buy your lunch

like i said, anyone can measure him in my presence, and as for the guys that pulled my dog out of the kennal saturday without my permission,i am goin to warn ya now, dont ever, ever touch any of my dogs without asking me,that has me so pissed off right now and if anyone knows who it is,pm me or call me,your name will remain annonymous,no one has permission to ever touch any of my hounds when i am not there, need i remind you of dozer,he is in a tin can on my mantle cause someone snuck behind my back and messed with him while i wasnt there,i hope to god i find out who you are, that is something you just do not do!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure the standard is 13" to run in the 13" class, why would you make someone measure him over 14" for the free lunch?danny vansickle wrote:you can toif you get him 14 or over in natural stance
