I have a dog that was whelped July 14th. Can he run in 2009 and 2010 derby trials, or once entered in a calender year is that it?
I'll try to get a pic up this weekend, He is a big headed, big boned blocky male out of some Iron Eagle blood on top and lots of goodies on the bottom. So far, I really like like him. He will be a 15" class dog.

Old Blood

This is an 2010 model
The cut off date for 2009 model is July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008
Not sure, think you can run him but not eligible the next year if he places
Hope this helps

Wags, I asked this question several days ago. I do not post under any other names, but it must be a common question about the derbys.
I was told that I could run in 09 and 10 if my dog was still under 2 years of age. I am new to the Mid-West AKC rules and I do need help with them and was just looking for info. My name is Duane thanks

Thanks buddy...we need to run again soon. Call me.

It looks like Mighty Joe Moon out of Tim is a 2010 derby,
Little bit of info..Hickster's Intimidator finished in close to a year of trialing in Midwest SPO.
Randy ain't one to brag so I will brag for him. He told me one day while running... "Tim finished so quick I really never had to time to enjoy it."

A derby is a young dog that is under 2 years old and they have AKC trials that only count for bragging rights...no points for them. I am no expert concerning all the rules either, but am interested in running in some.

I guess these are 2010 derbies, but what the heck, I will post their pics anyways. :D
Joe has been under the gun and running since 5 months old...he was born July 14, 2008.
He is actually quite a bit bigger than the pics makes him out to be. He is twice the size as Sally and twice her age.
Sally was born Oct. 2, 2008. Trigger was born November 1, 2008.

Pike Ridge, how big is the open marked pup at top and how big do you expect him to go?
