heres whats going on here guys to many kennels geting bigger than they should be.how do you have 20 dogs and be able to have the time to give every dog there justice? Selling him of his papers, and he ain't been out of the pen more than a handfull of times in 2 years? you can go on any of the big web. site boards and see this. This will wreck the breed,as ahunting breed. As houndsmen we owe these little hounds more than that.If everybody out there internally cut it down to the best of the best then we would be getting somewere. I understand that dogs may not fit some guys style. but that being said there is still way to much junk out there.New buyers if you can't afford to drive and watch dog your buying run, stay more locally, same with pups ask to see parents run to see what is in pup.

old ace will dominate any pack if he can make it thew the stand. come on big rufus i will bring that daughter to that star bitch you used to own look to see her on the podeium been running her about 5 to 7 hours a day BY HERSELF took aceout today with a bunch of guys and he grabed the front and ran about 20 yards ahead of the pack all day. if a dog got it from him it was olny for a min or two. this bitch i am going to bring if fast and clean with a big nose
i know bluegrass has good dogs i just like to get him fired up but mine will still run off on his two

You have to keep in mind the number of different styles of hounds that are being ran, some tolerate styles that are not appealing in others, then you have geography, hounds in different parts of the country may not do well in others. Then you have some chasing names. Times/(public acceptance) have changed. I am willing to guess that dogs lived by a seperate standard in times of your grandfathers or great grandfathers. Culling probably only had one meaning.
Never buy a hound unless you or people in your circle have seen a dog go. Pups are always a gamble, unless from a proven cross.
On the other hand I've seen dogs that one person may consider a cull, that another thinks it is their ideal dog.
Beagling is not a science, just an opinion!
Re: heres a good ?
I was telling my son today that I have owned hounds since 1970 and have owned one that I didn't raise from a pup that suited me. I have given away dozens of hounds, sold several for next to nothing and still would rather raise a pup and train it than buy even a started hound. I sold one to a friend for $100 as a favor to get him back into beagling and the hound championed in LP in a few months, won 3 in champs not long after. I have never owned a champion hound and don't trial actively due to time constraints for the past 4 years or so. People call me every October wanting to buy good hounds and I price them so outrageously that they don't call back. I get the same answer you guys get, "I can buy a top-notch hound for $100." I tell them "what a bargain, better get 'em before somebody wises up and grabs them out from under ya!!!" and laugh my butt off because I know they are going to spend the next two weeks chasing them down from deer races or kicking them to get them out from under their feet.
