My dad and I hunted one day when both of our automatic shotguns were frozen up and wouldn't fire......we use graphite now but it never gets that cold anymore it seems.

speed is a relative term- :D

sometimes, i bring more dogs and rotate them

dogs get all iced up-

let them thaw out in dog box and ready to go again- :)

another reason is
a few hours of running , below zero and deep snow is equal to days of running in better weather-

its the older dogs usually that can run when its cold-
it wears them out fast-

ive hunted a few days like toms picture-- :)
any dog that can run decent on that day would have a home for life here -
:) have only seen a handful that could in 30 years

Only owned one dog that could keep track going once it gets below -10. She did pretty well down to -20 but beyond that she couldnt do much. I would take 5 just like her if anyone is taking orders. She has been breed 6 times and she hasnt produced herself yet. Pretty conviced she's not a great producer.

Dont get to much weather that cold in Michigan, but when we do I take the time off work to go see if the dogs can do it. Like someone stated, poodles can run when its +30. I want to find out which dogs are the real deal.

Hey Flash how much snow do you guys have down there. I got to get away from this mess. It seems like every day we get 2 to 3 inches.

Well boys, right now, 8:58 pm, it's minus 33 celcius (-27 F ) and it's probably gonna get colder here. Fortunately the wind has died right off. Maybe I'll get out in the morning if it's dead calm, but more than likely wait for it to warm up some. Pete's forum is slow right now but if you're looking for some winter style action try this one
