Trapping rabbits???? what is the best way????
I am almost done with my acre stating pen and was wondering what is the best trap to catch a wild rabbit. I have a few box traps I made myself. Should the rabbit see daylight in the trap or should I block up the back of it? Are cage traps better? I have caught a few rabbits with the traps I built and was wondering what would be the best bait to use. I have caught 1 on an apple and 1 on cracked corn but it always seems like I catch more opposums. Anything would be helpful. Thanks
I have used the box traps with wire on the end of the box, this has worked best for me.
I have used the all wire bx type and have not had as good of luck, and some of the rabbits beat themselfs to death trying to bust out of the wire box. a fellow beagler told me he covers up the all wire trap with burlap to prevent the rabbit from trying to bust out. For some reason when they are trapped in the wooden bx. they stay quiet and still .

Trapping Rabbits Best way???
I use a box trap. I always baited with apples but ended up catching everthing else. Now I don't use any bait at all. Set them up where there are plenty of rabbit trails. I place mine where I can see them from the truck, and check them each day. Usually takes about 2 weeks before I catch the first one. Then I usually have one are two a week until I move them.

a little humor!
I like the ash hole method!..........dig a hole about 3 ft square, fill the hole with ashes and pieces of apples..............................when the rabbit goes to the edge of the hole to smell the apples you kick im in the ash hole.
