We are doing a little. The good spots will come up in the next few weeks when deer season winds down. We had some good running last Saturday on one of my buddies farms. He recently logged off a few acres and it will only get better over the next few years. We have a few hunts scheduled for down your way in January. I have heard good reports about rabbit population from a few folks. I hope it holds up until we get there. I like running down east.
I am supposed to go tomorrow if the rain holds off.

I'm off work until after New Year and plan to do some Rabbit hunting .

rabbitearl ..... I looked hard for ya at Saltville. I was hoping to see the "best rabbit dogs you have had in 36 years".

No worries, Tazewell has a trial the 28th of Feb. and Mike Crabtree has a club opening up Mar. 1st. You could hit both trials back to back.

Lee I said any 4 dogs. Its alot harder to get 4 dogs to run together. That what we do is two couple pack were its just your 4 dogs running the rabbit.I was the pres of an aral club down here in 91 92 and 93,and Hosted a AKC trial here two years ago and seen some real good dogs. But I like this two couple pack.No body eles dogs running the rabbit but your. The dog that I ve got now well they never been to a trial, but sunday we had one and I told the guys let me put them lou girl in.Well me being the judge and everthing, they came in last. But T LEE there somthing that these little girls that has talk me its not just running the rabbit that counts. That spec bond between man and dog, were last wed watch betty lou standed over the rabbit and barking the other dogs away like she was saying this is rabbit earl rabbit. And the rabbit still alive things like that is so spec to me.Like 3 years ago a young man shot at a rabbit in the woods and could not find it and the dog stop running and maybe two min later here come linda lou and put the rabbit at my feet. And watch ciny lou can stop right in here track and pick that nose up and go straight to the rabbit in it bed.And barbar lou she be right there in all of it. Had a man 6 years ago wanted to buy these dogs and I told him over and over they want forsale.he just would not stop and said money no problem,I said OK $40,000 for the 4 he never ask me again and now Im glad he dodn t take it up because I will never have dogs like these 4 again. If my wife would not get mad these little girl can move right in.I seen time were they could not find me and they get on my scent and run me.I pull the shock collors off of them 7 years ago never used to shock of deer or fox.It just amaze me how smart they are.Can they lose one you bet they can.But I ve had never had to jump one for them.In my 36 years I had lots of dogs and had some that could run one just as good maybe better but hope there want a deer around. These little girls will be 10 soon they are very spec to me.It just seem they were born last year. Are they FC or trials dogs no but they are dogs that I wish everybody could have one day. They are reg. There mom side has got Big swamp and there dad side has Wright line ozzie.I sorry about the commet but nobody would say anything about the trials. At least you would talk.Yall have a nice day.

Dave all is well my way I hope you and all yours are having a happy holiday season as well. Barry I grew up down that way in Brunswick county a little place called Ash south of hwy. 130 off of Ash/Little river road at regans crossroad. I use to race go-carts in Hallsboro back in the 80's probably.

Hey Steve, bring some of those Speedier Sports up next time you come and I'll let you see some smart rabbits frustrate them. How did the Buddy Black pup turn out?

I don't understand the kind of trialing you guys do. I was at Joe's a while back and he said he had a male that had 8 wins and still not finished.... hmmm... must be small classes! Called him Captain I think, anyway I took a liking to a pup that is almost a full sister (same sire and mother is a sister to the dam) and I'm hoping she will help me some.

Rabbit hunting in these parts is so bad I pull for the rabbit to get away... and most of the time, they do ;)

Larry I think the rabbit population is spotty all over NC. I don't kill many myself but some of the boys I go with will kill a few. I probably didn't kill more than 15 last year. There was about 75/80 killed for the dogs. I just love to run dogs.
