Jerry, we're getting the same "blizzard" over here in Louisiana. Trying to get in to Baton Rouge for work this morning took 3 hours. Good luck with the pups.

You guys want me to overnight a couple of snow shovels? :) I will bet ,city hall shuts down for a week and no one drives. Import some hare and you could have a blast. Kidding of course but drivers not use to snowy roads are dangerous. Stay safe.

First thing my son did was write his name in the snow(if you know what I mean).

Jerry its good to hear from you too. I have your numbers now so I'll be calling. We do need to get together and run some hounds.

yeah I am from the northeast part of Ohio and right now I'm down in Monticello Mississippi doing some rabbit hunting. I run in the snow all the time up home and the dogs have no trouble at all bringing back a rabbit to the gun but today we were in lots of water with about 4 inches of snow and a pack of 13 hounds that couldn't get but one rabbit circled back to the gun. It's a much different kind of snow then what we're all use to up North. Up home it's a dry snow where as down here it's a wet snow with humitity.
It was so funny to listen to the guy i'm down here talk like this snow was going to keep things tied up for a couple days. Watching people drive around and listing to the radio you would think things were really bad. I guess we're just use to it up north. One thing I couldn't believe was that they have no snow plows and no salt to put on the roads. I'll share a few photos of my trip when I get home.

you're right ironjaws - I'm southeast of Atlanta and right now everyone is on pins and needles anticipating snow flurries. In the south there's very few snow trucks and southerners wouldn't know a snow shovel if
you hit 'em up side of the head with it!! In my county we have dump trucks with dirt/sand mixed with salt to cover the "main" roads - everone else is told to stay at home and don't drive unless it's an
emergency. What else is funny is when the forecasters say "snow" on the air there's a run to the stores to clean them out of milk and bread- I don't know why just those items but I guess it's just a southern thing. I'd love to go up north and see snow several feet deep - it'd be a thrill! But then again I'm a kid at heart and would love that kind of stuff.

Well here in Houston it hit at about 19:30 and I was at work. Since I work in and outside it wasn't exactly what I call a good night at work. At times it was so heavy you couldn't see 20 feet in front of you. After it was over it had melted before I got home at 6:00 am. Tomorrow's high will be in the mid 60's. With weather like this you don't know whether to run dogs or watch tv. Everywhere I was stationed in the Army was cold and had snow and I developed a love for the snow. Last night was nothing more than a tease!!! Chris

Things could be worse ;) We've got about 6 or 7 inches on the ground and this morning the temp is a nippy -32 celcius which is about -26 F for you guys down south, and that is WITHOUT any sort of wind chill factored in (although I don't think there is much). That's even a little cool for us this time of year

Although I'm sure it's warm somewhere, this kind of stuff sure makes you wonder about the global warming gloom and doom forcasts
It's not that life is short......it's just that we're dead for such a long, long time...

Danny, Plow trucks, heavens no. They don't even have snow shovels. I will bet, with the prediction of the snow storm, they had a run in the Food Lion Markets so now there is a shortagle of food. This yankee married a gorgeous Southern Belle from South Carolina. Over the years, I have experienced a couple of their 1" to 2" snow storms where you had to stay off the roads until the sun melted the snow because there were no snow plows with auto wrecks everywhere. BUT, I love that part of our country with a much slower pace.
