I'll tell you what I would have done if I had bought the dog. I would have called the previous owner and discussed this issue and if it were true, I'd breed his friends female again BUT we would have some common knowledge as to the deal.

The guys on here who are defending the crooked cheater are probably crooked cheaters themselves so look out for them. Remember the flap about the bitch "locked up with a young male" when she was supposed to be bred to a titled stud, and who jumped in to defend the accused?

Learn a lesson, like I have... don't take promises. I've bought dogs and never got the papers... too many times. I bought a pup Oct. 1st, drove 300 miles one way to get it, paid $300... still no papers in my mailbox... so you see what promises are worth.

A few beaglers are some of the nicest and most honest people in the world. Many, many more are lower down than whale chit and would cheat their own mother on a dog deal.

IMO he should either get your dog breed again by the same stud or pay you your money back. Whats the stud dogs name?

MY "BUDDY" TO WHOM I PAID THE STUD FEE CALLED ME YESTERDAY AND SAID HE'D BEEN THINKING ABOUT THE SITUATION AND WAS WILLING TO RETURN MY STUD FEE. HE SAID THAT WHEN HE SOLD THE DOG THERE WAS AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN HIM AND THE BUYER (WHO HAPPENS TO BE HIS "BUDDY") THAT MY STUD FEE WOULD BE HONORED, BUT APPARENTLY THE NEW OWNER DIDN'T HONOR HIS WORD AND DIDN'T CARE IF HIS "BUDDY" HAD TO TAKE THE BLAME FOR IT. MY "BUDDY" RETURNED MY STUD FEE TODAY. JUST FOR THE RECORD IT HAD ONLY BEEN 8 MONTHS SINCE THE FAILED ATTEMPT. THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT. I'LL KEEP IT IN MIND THE NEXT TIME I HAVE TO PAY A STUD FEE.

We had a local boy get hurt in a car accident a few years ago, they had a benefit auction for him and one of the businesses had donated a $100. worth of rock in the auction. I bought the rock for $150 but didn't need it at the time so I just held on to the coupon as there was no expiration date. Well, this summer I needed a little rock so I called the business but they didn't handle rock any more, they had gone into scrap asphalt business so I ended up using the coupon on helping to asphalting the driveway. It cost me alot more but the wife is very happy now...

I know the fellow made a promise and may have had the best intentions but things can change, the hound could have been lost or died the longer you waited. Most stud owners offer a repeat breeding of the bitch for up to 6 months after the failed due date. If I really wanted pups from a certain stud, I wouldn't put off returning for the breeding, I'd be there on the next heat regardless of what the fellow had told me to take my time.
I think the fellow should give your money back since there was no resulting litter from the breeding or at least give the money to the new owner if he will fulfill the obligation. Both these guys will have to live with the knowledge you've been done wrong.
I've sold a few hounds and pups that were never paid for and it used to really bother me but not so much any more, God has been good to me and I've come to realize what's really important and how blessed I am. The world is a very imperfect place, we only have a short time to make the best of it... ;)

oops...sounds like it worked out ok... :D

Funny, the guy that has the dog now is not really out anything if he breeds him to your female, may actually help him in the long run. Some guys are just in it for the $$$$$$$$$ though.

I'm glad this situation turned out as it should have. I've learned a lot of things getting my degree in Hard Knocks and every time I think I'm about to graduate with a full blown education I get another lesson. The last one I learned was just a couple years ago with the stud fee that I never produced a "Litter" and If I should ever take a similiar course in that subject I learned that "if you ain't got it in writing, you ain't got nothing!" If putting the deal down in writing offends them then they probably are not the right person for me to deal with. I want exactly what I pay for, nothing more and nothing less and putting it in writing stipulates what is to be done for my money.

Congratulations. I believe a few others on the board have anted up after having their devious ways exposed. I don't know about the fox smelling his own tail, but I do know there are some smelly tales :moon: on TAB.

My buddies would be able to breed to any stud dog I have free. Any one else who paid a stud fee would get a repete breeding if the 1st did not take at any time that I Owned the dog. If for some reason I had to sell the dog the new owner would be told about it and I would expect them to honer it. Without you'r good name you have nothing. If I have a male that is good enough to breed to in less it is an unfore seen reason HE will be around My kennels a long time. But still somne times things come up when we all might have to sell one we don't want to part with. My name is my legency to leave my heirs after I leave this life if it is no good them what do they have. C Salyers [Briarshakersdaddy]

I remember last year we had stud fee auction for a fellas family,Just wondering if someone wanted to grab the bull buy the horns if maybe we could do it again, have all proceed go too some org or less fortunate family, around x-mas would be the time.Any input? As far a stud fee i will honor it and if i sell it, i would make sure the next man honors it.I have also bred dogs twice or ever how many times it takes to get the job done.like ya say all we got is or word in life. . I know there is some big time stud dogs out there just wanting to get some for a good purpose. So if you boys can i agree i got a coupleof stud hounds i will throw in the mix.
