I am a Christian first and foremost, family comes next and then Country and only then these little dogs i love so much come up.I was the one who was messing with these boys on here . So before every body starts getting all Holier than thou over what we like to to do and the manner in which we do it. Let us stop to Give thanks that we have the right to make the choice for ourselves.Personally I have killed one rabbit this season. Not that I'm too good to shoot one or eat it but I have had some health Issues and haven't got to hunt but twice,I probably keep what you all would call culls, but I ain't ashamed to turn em lose with any other hounds, and as far as for the meeting new people ,one of the two hunts I went on I took a young Man ,new to the area who I had met once, and his dad someplace I like to hunt ,because he was new to the area and didn't know anyone or any where to hunt .The young man wanted to take his dad because he said that he had always taken time to take him and his dad was his hero. The scenting was poor that day but we jumped six or eight rabbits that day and I managed to shoot one,The dogs had a big time and so did we and I made some new friends so it was a good day. I consider my self an outdoorsman and want to see every body have a good time doing what they like, not what someone else tells them they should like , Orthat they are doing something unethical because the shoot a rabbit shortly after it was jumped because they like to eat rabbit and have to work most of the time and have other commitments as well, like church on Sunday morning for example.I run my dogs for pleasure and companionship through out the year and when season is in I take a few to eat and don't have any thing against trialing .I am just not that into it,just remember that when you point that finger there are three more pointing back at you.Sorry if I offended any body which was not my intention,I was just poking a little good natured fun at some people that I Know and Count as friends in the post you were referring to ,even though I haven't met some of them others I have. Call me what you want I'm comfortable in my own skin and In the words of Forrest,Forrest Gump,That's all I've got to say about that.......Denny :check:

I stand to be corrected.......

PROVEN IN THE FIELD, NOT UNDER THE GUN.

But i will say it's what makes me happy and thats all that matters, which i to have 15 hounds and i do agree it doesn't take much to make you want to send one down the road, even the smallest things.

I used to be a beagler, i have only ran my houns twice this season.I really dont miss chasen those hounds gettin lazy in my old age i guess, when i go to feed i let those beagles run around the back and that about it. I cant explain why i am so bored with my hounds. I am supposed to hunt with thornie and pike ridge this season i hope they dont laugh to hard when I do show up after deer gun season with these out of shape hounds.

Randy,
No worries. I just love to run hounds and I understand where you are at... been there years ago and got out for a bit myself. It is easy to go in different directions in life and if I had accomplished what you have in beagles I would be very honored.
We'll just leave our egos in the truck and run hounds and fellowship and have a great day in God's beautiful backyard. That's what it is all about for me.
I will get a hold of you after gun week.

"Beagler" I have the hounds trained as well as any house dog, they are part of the family and have rarely had any litter of pups that any turned out shy.
"Trialer" I trial when my work schedule allows and I have a dog worthy and ready for competition and realize it's any dogs day in the field when being judged.
"Hunter" Well up here I jumpshot when I feel like it ! There is no shortage of hare what so ever. Sometimes I try hard to get the shot, sometimes I sit and enjoy the day for awhile. We don't hit the spots we find only a small sign of hare, but we check them out every now and then. As far as being a "beagler" and I should not do any jump shooting  , maybe down your way that's a problem, but up here most guys beaglers, trialers or hunters would shake thier head at that one. Usually once you shoot the hare it takes less than 5 minutes for the Hound(s) to have another up and running in an average spot.
Hunting with beagles is where most all of us got the "beagle fever" from. Those of us who run them on the off season and keep them well looked after whether they trial them or not are what I call beaglers  , alot of people just don't have the time or money for trialing, that includes myself at times.
