Sounds like time to throw someone a blanket party. I can't believe anybody would have the balls to try to steal that many dogs, that is one reason why if I hear another vehicle pull up to my area I round up my dogs and move. Thieves really burn me up :angryfire:

This is an interesting post & I've been following it. But, what I don't understand, RIDDLERUN, is, was the guy hunting & carrying a gun or was he not hunting. I was confused when I read your post. Thanks. Hope you guys solve the mystery. I can't see why the guy didn't keep the dogs.

I am willing to bet that this guy or these guys are not hunting and they are not after your dogs. They either have a trap(s) in that woods, or they use that spot as a pick-up/drop off point for their pharmacy business.

Now they maybe have taken a dog or two, but I don't think that is their goal. If you guys keep going in their, they are more than likely going to leave the area. Calling DNR was a good thing. I have a spot that I sometimes run in, and I see the same behavior. The guys just bought a large tract of land, and they say they use it to hunt. I have never seen them in hunting gear, with hunting equipment, or in a truck.

Every time they are seen by any of us, they are in cars (usually two). They only drive down the dirt road enough to get out of site, and within 10 minutes, they are headed out. One time they must have left their key, and had to do their business in the street. All I saw was the money exchange hands.

Sorry, but this ain't no drug running ground and my dog WAS taken out in front of my nose...I heard them talk and heard them drive away, so did eddy. Can't grow drugs here in Ohio this time of year and this would not be the place to be making drug deals. This is also a heavily hunted state owned ground set aside for hunting, fishing, etc. and is constantly patrolled by ODNR which has an office located in the middle of this land.
Like RIDDLERUN said, these guy(s) are not hunting and are targeting hunters for whatever reason.

I would more than likely say they are Methheads after your collars for quick money seeing as how ya'll are getting the dogs back after they heve been dumped minus the collars. More than likely one or more of them have been hunters in the past and they know how much collars are worth. Dont be surprised to see your collars show up in the future for sale in some pawn shops in region.

All those collars come with serial numbers that are tracked by TriTronics and others. The collars are no good without transmitters so if you keep up with your own serial numbers and report them stolen to the mfgr won't they be able to notify you if someone tries to buy a transmitter to go with a collar, claiming it was lost or something? I agree, not much on Earth worse than a thief and I believe that there should be a special place for them.

Pike Ridge,

All I'm suggesting is that there is something else going on besides stealing dogs. You would be surprised to find out the things people will do when they can't think straight.
It sounds like they have been in this area before, and they don't hang around too long. Whatever the reason, they keep coming back. I did not say that I was certain, but I still get the feeling that drugs (whatever kind) are involved somehow. Are there any other hunter missing dogs in the area?

More to come...the story takes on a new direction. I will post some very strange news soon.
Very troubling. These individuals may be more dangerous than just a thief or druggy.
