I was at the mall and I took my kids into the pet store to look at the pups and the had registered bealge/pug mixed dogs. I ask how can you register a mix and they told me that they had a couple of different registries that would register them. One of the registries was call "Pugle" . Anything for a Buck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want everyone to know who I am because it always says guest. My name is Andy R. Smith and I live in Indianapolis, IN and my kennel name is Gerty's Beagles. About three years ago my wife and I drove to southern Illinois to look at a registered red beagle at J******* Beagles. After about a minute there the owner and I were ready to go at it. He had 7 dogs in one above kennel and the conditions were horrible. The dog we went to see had so much feces on it we couldn't tell what color it was. Now me being an Animal Control Officer for the city of Indianapolis I felt I had to do something about this. On the following Monday I contacted the city prosecuters office and they were able to get me in contact with Illinois state officals. I told them what Johnston Beagles was like and offered to write a report what I had witnessed. I don't know how many people know it, but there are animal laws in every state. There is someone you can contact to report this. I did it for the dogs and not because I had disliked Mr. J*******. The owner of this board has had animal control to their house a time or two. But believe me they had their ducks in order and no violations were found.

The guy am talking about had a pretty good setup for 150 hounds. Some in chain link some tied on a chain and some in above ground pins. The above groud pins were pretty small which would be ok if he ran his dogs all day long. You would think the dogs I bought would have been fat if he didn't run them and they wasn't. So I thought maybe he might be telling the truth about running his hounds some of them anyways. Got the dogs home and found out they were full of worms. No wonder they wasn't fat!

There are 6 to 8 guys on the trading post that ALWAYS have dogs for sale, some of them have responded to this add. If you call them, they have anything you want. I personally avoid these guys, but dont really think it is anyones business. Dog jockeys are a dime a dozen on these boards, but if they feed and care for there hounds, I dont really care. They are better than a guy who has one dog and starves it to death. Personally as long a guy will give a 30 day unconditional trial I will do business with them. If they wont, I dont care if they have 2 or 200 dogs, they wont get my money!

What gets me is guys that want to buy something you have and are too far away to come see it. You insist over and over they come and try it out, however they say they don't have the time, but want it anyhow. Then a few weeks pass and they call bitching that it wasn't what they were looking for. To guys like this they get what they deserve. If you don't come try something out, then you have no reason to bitch. I don't care how honest someone tries to be with someone, they'll always be some neophyte know it all bitching about this or that.

Yup and there will always be puppy mills and dog traders and no, you don't have to sell to a pet store to qualify as a puppy mill.

These, I have no use for. Anyone that breeds for anything but theirself cannot be doing this sport any good and I don't care what kind of dogs they have!

Selling excess pups off a couple of litters that you bred for yourself is fine and ok with all of us but breeding litter after litter after litter just becaue you have a good male and a few good females is WRONG!

Puppy mill

Post by mybeagles »

I think you could qualify B***** as a puppy mill. They send out a good deal of pups, and many of which are junk. I think you are seeing more and more bad stuff coming out of that kennel these days, and for top dollar. I guess if I was getting 350+ for pups I would be tempted to keep them coming!
