What the crap??? NO WAY!!!!!!!

Post by bluehound1 »

There is a guy around here where I live who has beagles and has an add in the add buletin, Rabbit dogs for sell started and finished hounds. So I gave him a call. What a joke! I was talking to him about some lines he had in his kennels. He told me he had some Heli Prop Emmons, Blue Streaker, Iron Mike, and Robs Diamond just to name a few. I thought to myself man I bet he has some good hounds. But when I asked him how close breed these hounds are to his dogs he couldn't tell me. Which was understandable out of a few of these hounds but all of them. He couldn't tell me one. So I asked him how many dogs do you have and he said with a proud voice "150 hounds." What the crap. How does anybody have time to hunt 150 dogs. He said he was retired but still it would be an all day job just to feed that many dogs. But he swore up and down he "hunted them out in the field." NO WAY!!! To me this man is a dog trader and a puppy mill combined which is worthless. Sure there might be a couple of good hounds out of all of them, but who knows. He is in it for the money and thats it as far as I'm concerned. What does everyone think about this. Please feel free to give your opinons. I'm not trying to drag someones name through the mud thats why I didn't give a name. But this isn't trying to better the breed its making money and that ticks me off just a little bit.

I think everyone knows what I think about this topic. ;)

Why not tell us his name so we will all know not to answer an add to go there.

Yeah definatly.

Let us know who he is.

150 dogs there is no one man on earth that could handle that many dogs.

Unless he is running 15 dogs a day 10 days a week.

I'l bet everyone's guess is right on who he is. Before i crucified him i would take a look around as he is no different than the guy who keeps 50 some hounds works a full time job and always has pups for sale. Both fall into the same category.

Yesterday in the News (Colubus-Ohio) There was a lady that had Pups for Sale, anyways when someone came over to her place to inquire about the pup, she noticed that the lady's house was a mess...due to all the dogs/pups. Anyways that someone notified the Humane Society and went over and felt that the lady didn't feed and house her dogs/pups properly. They seized 62 dogs/pups. They were basically flea infested and some had sores. Some pups hardly had human contact and were very shy/scared.

Not saying he should be reported, never seen his kennel, but he oughta be careful, nowadays it only takes on phone call. Just like what happened to that lady.

It's none of my business if a guy wants to sell 50, 100 or 150 dogs...I figure as long as he can feed and house them correctly, it's his food bill..

But your right that is a tremendous amount of dogs, and you could never do all of them justice...and who's to say they are all receive the right amount of care/training. It's a shame really, but I don't know this guy, so it's only my opinion.

I'd say buyer beware, or find out about other dogs that this guys sold, or just plain don't do business with him.

Finally got her money back with the a lawyer... Puppy was sold with severe leg conformation problems which were confirmed by a vet   All about that money

Yes william I am. Do you know him? Have you bought any dogs off of him. The reason I posted this is because I feel like its a true beaglers duty to put a stop to these good for nothing puppy mills and dog traders. Last year I bought a 10 month old dog off of him. He did pretty good out in the field. At the same time my brother bought a 10 month old pup and when we jumped a rabbit his dog stood there as if it had no idea what to do and she even watched the rabbit run. Keep in mind these were only grade dogs. These were the first beagles we bought. Well turned out after 3 days of hunting my dog he started haveing seizours once or twice a day. So I called the guy thinking he would trade me for two more dogs after all he said they were hitting a good lick in the field. When I called him and told him about the dogs he told me that this dog as had seizours before which he didn't mention when we were down there. So he agreed to trade with us. I should have just cut my losses but I went back and traded my dog for a grade bluetick male 10 months old. ot back home and hunted him and he did fine. With a little work and hunting him he should make a pretty good dog. I asked the man many questions this time about this hound. He told me that he has guned over this hound and he was not gun shy. Well come to find out he was gun shy so I stopped there and decided to cut my losses. I just started rabbit hunting and didn't now a hole lot about it but now I know alot more and would never go to him or recomend him to any one else.

The reason I put this on the forum is because I feel it is ever beaglers duty to tell as many people as you can about thse good for nothing dog traders. SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK SHOULD I GIVE HIM A NAME??

True swamper they were only grade dogs. At the time I didn't now alot about beagles but still you should be able to take a man at his word. If you can't take him by his word than what does he have.

A man that can't stand behind his word is useless in my book.

Lets hear the name or at least email it to people that ask. Email it to me, I am just curious.

I have stayed off the breeder issue but here is my take. If a guy has some well bred hounds and is breeding alot of dogs and the majority of those dogs are turning out, then I dont care if he breeds a thousand. Breeding with purpose. I think those are better than the good ole boy that is breeding ole susy to fred because they are there. There are alot more people making the susy(x)fred cross than there are breeding alot based on pedigrees. I think that is the advantage of the AKC.

Me personally I will go buy dogs off of the big breeder before I go to the susy(x)fred cross.

This is not a slander on Grade hounds at all. I have seen and know of some outstanding Grade Hound lines that would make anyone proud. But these lines have been well thought out and been bred for years and have established consistency.

Just my opinion.
