I have a 2 year old male that has something really wrong. He is holding his back leg up under him. I can pull it down but it goes right back up. He doesn't get around very good. He seems like he is in pain. I have not ran the dog all winter so I know he did not get something in his foot. I have had the dog to the vet and he does not know what is wrong. He gave him some pain pills. This is a very good dog and I dont like seeing him this way. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Is it bitter cold where you are? In the zero degree weather when my beagles first come out of the house, they hold one or both hind legs up. One of them was even crying the other day as she was eating. They do get used to it eventually.
Sounds like the way I first see most dogs with an injured/ruptured anterior cruciate ligament("football knee"). I would have him re-evaluated by your or another veterinarian ASAP. Doc S
