question about stud dog

Post by beagleacres »

what do you all think about using a 17 inch beagle for a stud dog? I have his sister and she is only 14 1/2 and his parents were both under 15. I like his bloodlines, and I would like to breed him to this little 14 inch Branko bitch that I have...but I am not sure if I should do that or not. I am rather new to this...so I thought I could pick your guys/gals brains. Or do I just get a different stud dog to use? :?: So any feedback would be appreciated.....

If you like him breed to him, 17" is just a number.

14in bitch is not what i would call 'little'. I would not risk breeding her to a `17in male if you are shooting for the 15in and under mark.JMHO

I totally agree, if you are not going to trial and like the dogs then don't worry about it, but with those two sizes, don't expect the pups to be small.

You could also consider what this line of dog generally produces or what were in it's litter. Maybe this dog was a freak. So if you like that well and was wanting to breed to him but his size stopped you then I would first consider everything about this hound as what size he's out of and what size are this dogs brothers and sisters and so on.
