Never tried the Judge myself, a fellow beagle club member has one but with out having a choke he can't get a pattern from it. He used it a full season and never shot a hare with it, even after going through several boxes of shells. He purchased a Thompson Contender that has a full choke and has started hitting some toward the end of last season. If you are looking to fill you freezer the .410 pistols aren't the way to go but with practice you can get a very high hit ratio of like 33%

If you really want he revolver I would suggest a Magnum Research BFR over the Judge because of the choke, they are expensive but well worth every penny. The only regret I have about buying my BFR is that I waited too long.

I just bought the super comanche, under $200 and I really like it. Single shot but a lot of fun and it has a choke for .410 nd another for .45 long colt. I actully read about it on here.

The Judge is a great gun to carry when running dogs!

I killed some rabbits with mine last winter but if I was trying to feed my family
I would carry a 20 gauge pump.

With the Coyotes and othere predators I always carry the pistol.
We have had coyotes come in on the dogs several times this year.

the Judge is actually a very good pistol ,but the combination of the rifled barrel and no choke make it throw a poor pattern except at the shortest of distances, one of the choked .410 pistols would be a much better choice for a hunting gun, although personally as much trouble as I have killing the critters with a shotgun,a pistol is out of the question for me,Denny
