Oh,and by the way,I would rather get beaten any day by an over size dog than a crooked or inexperienced judge. At least I stand a chance against the dog!

Re: Letter from ARHA
Why is it people are always complaining saying it shouldn't be a big deal if they allow dogs over 15" in ARHA, that the size of the dog doesn't matter, when no other registry allows you to run them either? or should I say it is a rule violation if you do, there are rules for every sport there is, there are even other registries that splits into two classes.

GETTING BETTER.
I KNOW RULES ARE RULES.HOUNDS OVER 15 IN SHOULD NOT BE RUN BUT REMEMBER THIS IF YOU CULL A HOUND THAT IS A, REALLY GOOD RABBIT DOG" AND RUN ONE THAT IS AVERAGE AT BEST AND IT MAKES CHAMPION.THEN GRAND, ETC.AND YOU STUD IT. AND BREED IT A LOT .WHAT DID YOU REALLY DO FOR THE BEAGLE BREED ,I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY YOU MADE, OR HOW MANY TROPHY'S YOU WON.SO I THINK THE 15 IN DEAL WILL CURE IT'S SELF, WHEN THE MONEY SLOW'S DOWN THE STANDS WILL START STREACHING.HOWEVER THE BUDDY JUDGING AND CHEATING WILL ONLY GET WORSE.. A LOT OF GUY'S.ARE ALREADY SLOWING DOWN A LOT.ANY GOOD LUCK AND----------

Mapel Valley Kennels LLC. wrote:Just my opinion, Why dont the watchdog commitee adapt a honest bunch of guys and measure all dogs in question at 1 of 5 big hunts? Then give a offical card that cost 20.00 dollars. They are all about the money anyhow. Cheating is a club too club problem , why dont clubs have there moh do the measuring and then make that club liable if he measures out the next time maybe even adapt 1/4 inch rule from different times measured,We will not all measure the same and oh yea, no show poses.
JCM WROTE:
If the E-Board and ARHA are so concerned about big dogs, why don't they set up at all of the Big 5's and State Hunts and offer official measurements?????????? They all talk the talk, and say they want to stop all the big dogs, but what are they doing? I am sure people would be watching, so they could see the correct way to measure at the same time. I have yet to see the E-Board of ARHA do one thing to make this problem better. All they have done so far is talk it to death.
I'll bet if they did this, many beaglers would take advantage of the opportunity. If an owner raised a borderline dog, this would give him a chance to know for sure whether the dog should be run in hunts or not.[/quote]
HERE ARE TWO POSTS BY TWO BEAGLERS THAT HAVE REN ARHA LP LONGER THEN MOST THE PEOPLE OUT THERE TODAY,THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT ARHA MAY FINALLY LISTEN TO,THEY SEE WHAT NEEDS DONE AND THEY HIT IT ON THE HEAD HOW TO DO IT,SO,INSTEAD OF TALKIN ABOUT IT ON HERE,WE ALL NEED TO GO TO THE NEXT RULES COMMITEE MEETING,BRING IT UP AND MAYBE THEN IT WILL GET DONE........
LIKE THEY SAID,DO IT AT BIG HUNTS,THAT IS WHEN THE POWERS THAT BE ARE THERE,THEN IF SOMEONE DOES BRING A 16 IN DOG TO ONE OF THESE BIG HUNTS,AND IT GETS MEASURED OUT,THEY CANT BITCH,THEY HAD THEIR CHANCE TO GET IT OFFICIALED,PLUS,IT WILL PROTECT US BEAGLERS THAT ARE RUNNING TRUE 15 IN HOUNDS FROM GETTING RAILROADED AND MEASURED OUT BY SOMEONE THAT EITHER DELIBERTLY DONE IT,OR JUST DOESNT KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY MEASURE A DOG AND NOT TO MEANTION,USES A PVC PIPE OR YARDSTICK TO DO IT........

Rock Pushin,
I never once had a judge tell me I could not stay in his back pocket !
Any judge that wont let you keep up has something to hide so if your so convinced you get cheated every time out just stay in their back pocket or stay home
No offense, I find it hard to sit and read your comments as a judge. I am not saying it never happens but most are honest.
Sorry for getting OFF TOPIC !

I AGREE WITH YOU AND JIMBO ,,BUT YOU KNOW THE OLD SAYING,!!!!!!!!YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE PEOPLE, SOME OF THE TIME, BUT YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!SO WHAT ABOUT THE BACK BONE OF ARHA, THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T GO TO THE BIG HUNT'S OR THE YOUNG HOUND THAT GETS MEASURED IN AT ABOUT 9 MOS. AND COMES BACK ABOUT 16 IN.I AM NOT DEBATING AGAINST YOUR POINT BECAUSE IT IS A GOOD ONE.IT STILL NEEDS A LITTLE WORK
SORRY BUD!!!!!!!!!! I STILL SAY THAT THE SIZE RULE IS THE LEAST PROBLEM ARHA..HAS..I OWN A FACTORY BUILT STAND AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT.WHEN I TAKE MY DOG TO THE TRIAL AND GO TO THE STAGING AREA I CAN TELL QUICK WHICH DOGS ARE OVER..AND WHEN M.O.H.'S START USING GOOD STANDS,, NOT TARD STICKS ,P.V.C. PIPE OR A PIECE OF ROPE AND A LEVEL THERE WILL BE A LOT OF SAD PEOPLE 15 INCHES IS NOT THAT BIG,!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Letter from ARHA
As an e-board member I have never seen this letter. I may be wrong, but I don't believe it came from the E-baord.
This topic seems to arise about every 6 months, it gets beat up, buried, dug up and beat some more. Either way the e-baord always seems to get blasted in some way.. Well, We all have our seperate views on the measurement rule, and it does become a topic of discussion among e-board members on occasion. However, in 2006 we had a rules commmittee meeting in Lynnville Indiana and voted on many rules that were proposed by clubs across the country. There were about 5 different proposals about the measurement rule and ALL were voted down by a VAST majority. There were over 70% of the clubs represented by letter, in person, or proxy. As a matter of fact out of all of the rules proposed, there were very little changes to the rule book. That tells me that the VAST majority of the LP trialers like it just the way it is. As an e-board member that represents those folks they are telling me that they like to go out and run their 17", rough, swinging, skirting, 15 second checking, mouthy hounds.
I also noticed reference to "the next rules meeting"..There is no longer a rules committeee, and there are no future rules meeting scheduled..Take a look at the new rules. Even the "Chairman of the Rules" committee no longer exists. If this rule gets changed it will have to be changed by Dell Morgan himself..

Re: Letter from ARHA
I was just wondering what the big deal is over a dog that is over 15".
What makes them so much better that some guys don't want to run against them?
Do they have better noses?
Do they have more brains?
Do they have more heart?
Do they have more stamina?
Can they get through the brush better?
Are they better jump dogs?
Can thy run the line better?
Is it that it's just a rule and it's a good way to eliminate some of the competion?
The only difference I can see is that they just have longer legs.
They have to do something better, if they didn't it would never be mentioned. If I can find out what it is that makes them so much better I might get rid of all my small dogs and go to all oversize hounds.

Re: Letter from ARHA
I don't trial but I have been to many. The 15" rule is taken from the breed standard which comes from AKC I suppose. I have seen some little 11" hounds hold their own pretty good with those big dogs but on the straight away they get left usually. I figure if you are gonna run arha you need a big dog. Now as for the 15" rule, what would happen if you didn't have a size rule???? Where would it stop???? 16"?? 17"???? 20"?????? You have to have a cutting off point. To register with arha all you have to do is have a dog that looks like a beagle and can run a rabbit(well, not necessarily) to register with that format. Heck, cross a beagle with a ST Bernard and ya might come up with a beagle looking hound.

Re: Letter from ARHA
i have the perfect solution set the legal running limit at 14 inches, give 1 inch leeway to the maxium of 15 inches then if any are still over shoot it,that ends all cheating done deal;

LOOKS LIKE IT IS TAKEN CARE OF ,NO RULES COMMITTE.NO CHAIRMAN,JUST PAY AND RUN,SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.THAT KIND OF B.S. IS WHAT WE PAY OUR REGISTRATION FEE'S. CLUB- DUES AND ENTRY FEE'S FOR SOUNDS LIKE ALL WE NEED IS A COMPUTER TO KEEP UP WITH THE REGISTRATION'S ,IF IT DIDN'T COME FROM THE E-BOARD AND WE DON'T HAVE A RULES COMMITTE WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON. SOUNDS LIKE ARHA WANT'S EACH CLUB TO MAKE THEIR OWN RULES .AND IF YOU GO TO ANOTHER CLUB.START ALL OVER AGAIN ,SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO GET INTERESTING, I THOUGHT I WOULD MISS RUNNING SOME OF THE TRIALS IF I QUIT,, THEM BUT SINCE IT'S MOSTLY A BIG ARGUMENT EVERY TIME OUT,, I MIGHT HAVE TO TAKE A STRESS BREAK.
