AKC Clubs in Missouri
I am wanting to find AKC clubs in or close to Missouri. Clubs that run Large Pack or MIdwest Style dogs. I don't know much about AKC, but would like to go to a couple of hunts to visit and see if my style of dog would fit in. I like to run fast hard hitting dogs with alot of hunt.
Re: AKC Clubs in Missouri
Brad,The only clubs in Mo are SPO UBGF. They are not close to the kind of dog we run. There are several in Ky that are SPO Midwest and also one that I belong to in Ill. that is only about 3 hours from you. There is also one in Indiana this year that is only about 3 hours from us. If your interested I will be going to one in Ky the end of December. I think you would enjoy them.

Re: AKC Clubs in Missouri
BrewerMo is correct about the AKC hunt in Indiana. This will be our first hunt. The hunt will be October 11 and 12 this year. It will be an AKC SPO trial that will run the Mid-West Beagle Gundog Association, (MWBGA), type hound. If you want to learn more about the MWBGA, go to this link, http://www.mid-west-gundog.com/. This type hound is similar to AKC Large Pack, ARHA's LP in the midwest (I've been told these are the slow dogs way down south), ARHA's BP, and UKC. The club is listed as the "Franklin County Beagle Club" of Illinois but it's really the "Central Indiana Beagle Club" that is puting it on. We will attempt to change the club's name over to the Indiana club soon after this trial. We are also trying to join the MWBGA as I type this. If all goes well, we'll be voted in the MWBGA during their next meeting which will be on Oct. 4 at the Wurtland, KY trial that is the week before our trial. Once voted in, all placing hounds will be elgible for the Mid-West run-off trial next spring.
The hunting grounds are to die for. The grounds is nothing but reclaimed coal mining land that is now all privately owned. 15" and 13" males will run separately on Saturday Oct. 11 and the 15" and 13" females separately on Sunday Oct. 12. The club house is the building at Wirth Park in Oakland City, Indiana. Here is a link to a map of the area. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g ... 8T93g&cd=1. You can then click on "View Larger Map" to be able to zoom in and out. You can also click on "To here" to get directions. Once there, type in your address and then click "Get Directions"
Also check this AKC link, http://www.akc.org/events/search/index. ... on=results, for all field trials, past, present, and future for the year 2008 by using these directions:
Click on the above link, find the "Competiton Type" window and open it. Select "Field Trials". Next click on each state on the map that is below the "Competiton Type" window that you are interested in seeing. You can select as many states as you want or select the whole country. You will need to weed through all the events because not all are beagle field trials. You can also click on the club's name for info as far a club secretary's name, address, phone number, and maybe an e-mail address. It should also list the judges for each class as well.
One more note. Not all clubs listed are MWBGA or UBGF. Some club's that are listed may not be associated to anything, yet run your style dog, AKC dosen't require their clubs to join associations. If you want to check all such clubs in MO and surrouding states, I suggest you collect all clubs names listed by AKC within those states and compare them to the UBGF's and MWBGA's website list of clubs. UBGF's link is http://www.ubgf.org/Pages/Clubs/Club-Li ... asp?pid=59. If you find a club that does not belong to UBGF or MWBGA, it may run Brace, (which is rrreeeaaalllyyy slow dogs), or it could run your style dog yet not be associated to any one. Michigan is an example of that. I can't remember the club's name but it runs our style dog yet it belongs to no other association. AKC does count the results of such a club toward a Field Champion's degree. If you find such a club, you will have to call or e-mail the club secretary to find out more infomation on what style dog they run.
Have fun, this should keep you busy for a while.
Da Chief.

Chief,
I run alot of UKC. Your club is at the same place the Eliminator is held correct? If so I know what you are talking about. I love the running out there.

The Wattensaw Beagle Club is now in Northeast Arkansas. We'll promote a close, clean hound with speed. We are trying to join the Mid-west.
Keep the best, cull the rest!
