New Running Grounds
Me and the wife just bot a camp and was talking to the camps around us and they said theres planty of hunting spots so we took a drive yesterday around the camp there`s all kinds of state game lands and lots of swamps we stoped at this one game land and there was corn and soebeans planted so we turned a couple of dogs lose and about 5 mins they had one going the rabbit came buy me and i never seen a rabbit that big before i seen cottantails and that wasn`t no cottantail. The rabbit ran for over and hour and the dogs got hot so we pulled them off it and loaded them. The wife said lets drive around some more its getting dark and maybe we can see some deer out feeding or some rabbits along the road. She was right there were deer out all over lots of bucks in velvet. The rabbits were running all over back and forth across the roads these roads don`t have any houses on them state game lands on both sides lots of hunting spots. i`ve run in swamps before with my dogs just not that big i was just wondering if any of you guys have and whats the dangers of running in swamps like this? The guys at camp said theres no one else that run beagles there on rabbits that they ever seen. But theres a lot of rabbits. If theres any one out there that would like to run this kind of stuff it gos for miles in venango county email me and let me know i`ll e-mail you directions to the place rabbitdogcrazy@hotmail.com Looks like im going to have to get me a pair of hip waders.

Looks like you've found your rainbow's end and your very kind to offer sharing the wealth.
Are you north or south, sounds like you have swampers...
After googling, I see your Pa. one of my hounds Sugar Ridge Buckeye Patch was run over on state ground up in your area, be careful of the roads ,and I'd guess you've found a spot with a few hare not swampers...

North Im between Pittsburge pa and Erie pa. The reason for sharing is around here the guys that i run into don`t want you to hunt with them and they get up set if your dogs happen to join in with there chase. I don`t trial i just hunt my dogs i run my dogs year round and go to have fun. Theres guys that i run into that are running beagles that are plan out nasty with you if you turn your dogs lose even on state game lands. They think just because they bot there licsense they own the game lands. I hunt by my self and would like to find some beaglers that would like to run some dogs and have fun doing it like i said we bot a camp and its only about 5 mins from some of the best rabbit hunting you`ll find around here and im willing to share the camp and hunting grounds with some down to earth guys the camp has 4 bed rooms bath and kitchen dinning room and living room and Oil Creek gos right through the back yard with trout stolked in it if you don`t want to run dogs you can trout fish.

Re: New Running Grounds
Thats a common problem(hounds packing with other packs). Marra and I had our first hunt together this way. We had gone down the ridge to where the ground dropped into the bottoms, the hounds hit a hare and took it back up on the ridge and all the way down to the flats. After waiting a long time and no return on the circle, we hiked down the ridge the hounds had gone and found a great roaring pack after a hare. I think Justin got the hare and we spent the next day hunting together also.
When you throw a big pack down you don't kill as many hare, but you have some tremendous races...
We try to avoid getting close to others hunting, somethings we can't control. We've had people dump on top of us without regard for the mess it caused. We try to use some understanding and hopefully some thoughtfulness and courteousness will be the result.
Keep the olive branch out, there's some good sportsmen out there...sometimes you make your best friends by accident...

Hey Charles, Looking forward to running into your dogs up on the island again this year LOL-our packs seemed to get along just fine, they were screaming after that hare!
BeagleTrainer, that is a very kind offer and we would love to come run with you sometime-we probably live just across the state line (Ohio) from your camp. If you'd like to come over and run with us we've got some nice spots also and we love to meet new folks that also enjoy running the hounds. We do most of our running in a large swamp and I think it's excellent for training.
