Re: Good MPG hunting vehicles
Brad your little vuck looks good all cleaned up . Guys I have drove this monster and he is right , it rides pretty smooth . It takes a little getting used to driving on the right side and changing gears with the left but it has a ton of power and is a blast to drive .
There is a place in sayersville ky that sells these and some have ac and heat .
Van + truck = vuck

Still haven't heard from anybody that has an Element that hauls hounds in the back. ??? Chris, the guy in Salyersville, what kind of prices does he have, and how many does he keep in stock and does he do repairs or sell parts? I am all over this, esp. since one of my favorite running grounds is only about 2 miles of pavement from me.

What kind of gas mileage are you getting in the Jeeps? Are those Wranglers & are they 6 cylinders?

Dave last time I was there he had 5 in stock but he said he could get them in within a week and depending on what year and extras you got they ranged between 3800 and 6000 .

I've thought about getting a front wheel drive car like a honda civic wagon, or some other wagon.
Take the back seat out, put kennel wire between the front seats and back.
Just load the dogs in the hatch and go.

Re: Good MPG hunting vehicles
i have 04 chevy silverado 4x4 ,6 cyl 5 speed.it get 21to 22 mpg around home.beat the mpg the ford f250 got.my wife car is a 03 bonniville 3.8,it gets 17 mpg and that really sucks.when i fill up the silverado it takes around 100 to 120 dollars.it has a 36 gallon tank. which is around 780 to 800 miles per tank.when i hunt around home i use my polaris ranger.23 to 25 hrs per tank(8 gal tank)3 people can ride it ,can haul my dog box in the bed.i put a canvas top,and a 12 volt heater in it and it work well.

Hey Brad
Yes we hammered the turkeys very well, and got several on video, we got a new Hd Sony camera, and you can count every hair on those gobblers beards. We tagged out in Ky, Ohio ,and Ind. My ugly twin brother snuck off to Missouri without me and tagged a 20 pounder while he was filming our older brother, he missed one and Garry the camera man picked him off as he flew by, he said it landed real ugly over a 40 ft drop off. It sounded like someone launched a bowling ball
I got my biggest tom ever 28.5 pounds, double beard, and 1 1/2 inch hooks for spurs. We doubled 3 times it was a good season. I'll post some pictures when I get them from my brothers camera. I'll give you a call here real soon Brad

The Subarus are pretty nice. I drive an Outback (only about 25mpg) It is a little crowded wit family, gear and dogs, but I make due.
They are also a pretty bulletproof vehicle.
Re: Good MPG hunting vehicles
I can't afford to drive my lifted Silverado or my work trucks around all the time so I drive a 2002 4 cyl. 5 speed manual 1 wheel wonder F*rd Ranger and get 26 mpg and can't complain. Not too much at least

I'm thinking about either a Tundra or Tacoma. Also looking at the Dodge Journeys.
