Coccidiosis Treatments

I know Albon is the preferred treatment for coccidiosis - my question is can you give the generic sulfadimethoxine that comes as the 12.5% solution? I seem to remember that you have to dilute it to a 5% solution, though??? Does anyone know how to properly dilute this? Any help greatly appreciated

I heard that you can treat coccidia with Safeguard paste...( Fendbendazole for 3 days....)
Is this true?

Here is the info that i have saved about Coccidia:

Coccidia

Get a gallon of sulfadimethoxine 12.5% solution. Mix 1 tablespoon per gallon of water or 1 oz per two gallons. Use this for their water and you don't have to worry about it. It is $50 per gallon from Revival. The gallon will last you forever. Same stuff used for chickens, turkeys, and cattle.

Maybe just lucky but I've never had or seen pups with coccidia younger than 7-8 weeks old, seems as long as they were nursing and not under the stress after weaning, they were ok, also, never had coccidia in winter, always in the heat humid of summer. Also not had coccidia since putting clay base oil dry in dog house pups live in, seems to aid keep the box dry and pups healthy, coccidia can't live in the dry environment...just my experience

The way I understand it, coccidia is everywhere. All dogs have it in their digestive system. It is only when a dog or pup's immune system gets down that they have problems with it. Usually a pup when weaned stresses out and causes a problem. Older dogs could be run down, cold weather, extremely hot weather, filthy kennels, worms, and illness does coccidia effect them. You can use “Stall Dry” underneath their bedding to keep their sleeping area dry. This also can be purchased at TSC.

if your other remedies dont pan out try terramyicin antibiotic powder. you can get it at tractor supply or rural king. a tablespoon or so to a bowl of their drinking water. works for sure and its cheap..

Sulmet , I get from the feed store. It is used to treat cocci in chickens it works real well , easy to use.
