Did you see any outstanding judging at the world

Post by Mark H »

I would like to start this post with i believe it was cast one of the grands. The 5 hounds that were in it have all won state hunts and have either placed or won big 5 hunts and man did they pound and cover some ground in a hurry. but the two guys that judged it stayed right there with them and called it right and they were ryan brewer and chad cordell hats off to these to guys.TOP NOTCH

Why doesn't anyone bring up Eddie Smith, I was there and he was out every round, if he didnt have a dog hunting it. They would call him to the club house just so he could judge, they would hold the cast back his dogs were in so they could get more cast out. This man is one of the best, Honest, True judges i have ever seen. He judged in the HOY runoff, and then he judged all week. I was with him when he had to call his first time out EVER. I am sure there are several others that did the same, but he is just one that i know of, and lives close by. So talking about an outstanding judge this is him. If you had him as a judge i am sure you had no complaints about him judging.

as for outstanding judging i witnessed, well, the judging in the runoff was awesome, adam hughes and josh clipner, jeff kissinger and paul prevot really did a nice job,but that is easy to say for me,i won.

acctually,i would like to talk about the awesome judging in a cast i lost.

i ran my open spot out of bandit against scott kerns sam dog out of scooter and a cast of nice young hounds that rolled.the judges where jeremy hall from ironton ohio,a big ol boy named josh from ky and a lil guy that i am sorry i did not get his name, jeremy and the lil feller ran their hearts out, josh, the big ol boy, well,he was like i am when judging,"outstanding in the field" :lol:but at least he stepped up and tried.

anyway,we cast the dogs at the road,a dog struck in across the ditch and them dogs ran the entire 60 minutes, jeremy and the lil fellow never missed a single check, they came back with the same score i had and two others there watching, they done a fine job,my hat goes off to jeremy and his helpers, you guys done a fine job,and for the record, yes,i lost.

There was a young kid from Michigan I cant remember his name, but he could run like a deer. He judged Bogeys first round and the dogs pounded the whole hour and he didnt miss a single thing. Good to see the younger guys step up. Rooster also gets the iron-man award, he made around 450 bucks judging, he'd be so tired of the evenings, he'd fall asleep eating. Hes a tough little feller. Hats off to all the judges, couldnt have a hunt without yall. :D

I don't know his name either, but he sure did a super job.

I was out every round and either handled or spectated, and this was the best judging I have seen. Mike and Mike from PA stayed with a pack that ran one rabbit 55 minutes, and did a fine job. I saw Mark Pritchard judge two rounds by himself, and did well. Forest Kerns, Matt Elliot, and Tony judged several times. Chad Cordell and Ryan Brewer did a great job on a messy cast I was on with about a thousand splits.

Great job and thanks to all the guys that put it out there so we could have a World Hunt!

Matt Elliot judged two rounds that I was out on and he did a super job. He stayed right on the dogs while they pounded the whole hour. On one cast we jumped a rabbit and turned on it. They ran a straight line for close to a mile( from one road to the next) and he was on them the whole way. He was very deserving of the award that he received.

Brian and I judged this cast.. These hounds pounded us for an hour..Big long running rabbits. There were two hounds in that cast that impressed me. "Time" won, but the "Blazer" dog of Dormal's was also impressive. When I was done I told the guys I'd feed either one.. As a matter of fact I am now feeding one of them. If the other was for sale I'd bring him home too...

As far as judges. I handled dogs in 5 casts and judged therest of the time.. Of the 5 I only won 1 with Candy.. I saw 11 judges.. All were awesome.. Here's a few I can remember..

Mike Weaver/Mike Conti
Shawn Boyd/Breck Hammon/Mikey Smith
Keith McGradey/Jeremy Hall

I also watched 1 round of the runoff and Danell McKinney and Jason Blevins did one heck of a job..

I heard lots of good things about Rooster.
