what age to exspect 1st heat

Post by ohiogary »

I have two females one is around 7 months and the other around 5 months, normally how old is a dog before she comes in heat? Just want to be on the safe side when it does happen

Just plan on taking her to a big important hunt that is when she will come in season! Guaranteed!

Most first seasons will come in anywhere between 6 months and a year. This will also depend on how stressed their body is. If the dog is ran hard all the time might miss the season altogether. Just like atheletes.

That always works for me , then you introduce another female to the kennel and you get to lose her for 2 cycles instead of one. :mad2:

Well I know for sure now, she has been in heat for like a week, and now is 9 months old. I figure the cycle should last for about 3 weeks.
