HAIR FALLING OUT
I HAVE 2 HOUNDS I NOTICED THE EM GETTING BALD SPOT LIKE HEAT BURN FROM STRAW BUT I DON'T USE STRAW?
One its just on her sides and the other its just on his back, no where else? I have seen mange and that's not it, i give ivomec monthly, worm monthly, i put code liver oil in food for coats, i feed 24/20 food, they are on concrete pads that are cleaned daily and bleached once a month along with dog houses, none of the hounds will keep anything in there box. ie. seeder shavings, pine etc. so they have nothing in there dog house. 1 dog house is plastic in ones kennel and the others is wood in the other kennel? they are kennel separate, and with other hounds and other hounds have none of these signs and it been over 2 wks and it seems to be getting worse. i first thought it was from being run a lot but now I'm begin to wonder what it is. Could it be just dry skin or just where there rubbing something? And what can i use to get rid of this before i have to call my vet for some advice?
Thanks in advance.
Donnie

Also i looked at the skin and it's not red, it just looks like dry flaky skin, sorted white flake's. I have some Happy Jack dip i'm thinking of putting them in, it has always worked good for about everything, just gotta wait until it worms up some cause they sling that stuff everywhere, i just thought there might be a spray i could get at the local feed store.

Re: HAIR FALLING OUT
TC your right i don't want that stuff on my thin spots for sure. I found some at a local feed store for $10.00 and like you said i put some rubber gloves on cause it smells to high heaven.
I applied it on the 2 hounds we will see how it works, it says to apply every 3 days, but from what i seen when i apply that yeller stuff that would be a over kill. Hopefully this will take care of the problem soon cause i rubbed it in good.
The folks at the feed store didn't know you could use it for this problem until i read the label to them, they have sold NU-STOCK for ear mites, so they were shocked and said they would recommend it from now on cause Happy Jack is now $16.00 for a small bottle.
Thanks for all the comments i will keep everyone posted on how it's working.

Lots of possible causes. Fungal, allergic reaction, flea/mites and Nutrition. Are you dogs in close contact with each other or separted?

Re: HAIR FALLING OUT
They are all in separate pens just 2 to a run i have a 5 run kennel but except for 2 of them they have 3 hounds in them but other hounds with them are showing no sign, i checked the male with problems and he his doing great it just looks like his hair is coming right back the female in the other pen still looks the same. i am going to give her another rub down of NU-STOCK today plus i have laid her up until she gets better, they both was given another dose of ivomec last week, i bleached kennels this week, and i put ceder shavings in all there dogs house yesterday and put up boards so they will hopefully not scratch it all out like they normally do.
But they are all in really good condition cause they get run aleast 4 to 5 days wk and they get feed 24/20 food plus i have been throwing the meat scarps to them also, so there cut for running machine, no body fat here or skinny hounds, plus no sign of worms ect i may give them another 8 in 1 shot today even though they are not due.
I do know 1 thing if things keep going up i'm going to have to get rid of a few of them and i really hate to do that cause it's costing me alot and i really hate to cause it's took me 8 yrs to build my kennels to the point where i'm really happy with all my hounds performance in the field, it would be really hard to decide which ones to get rid of.We dedicated houndsmen who take pride in improving the breed needs a break, i think something got to stop other wise the breed which we all have worked so hard to improve will die out and that would be a shame. Something got to be done.

THANKS DALE I HOPE SO.
Re: HAIR FALLING OUT
how did the NU-STOCK work, or have u used anything else since, scarpotic mange mites are hard to get rid of sometimes. often i will try several different things and so really not sure which medication does the job. i had four 8 month old pups that lost almost all their hair while trying this and that product and never seen any improvement until i used what a lot of people wont and thats a mixture of used oil, off road diesel, turpentine, hair started back in a few days and within a week, they had their full coat back. ive used it for yrs. and my dogs live 12-15 yrs. my dad used it and all the old folks too.
