I'm a Civil Engineer for a consulting firm. Most of our work is related to the coal industry.

I've always been around beagles, and a bird or squirrel dog or two.

I am an auditor for a major Federal Agency.

I was raised around beagles. My father was heavily into beagles, and was a member of the Eastern Missouri Beagle club out of St. Louis. During the 50’s and 60’s we had, on average 7 beagles. He had field champions out of the Yellow Creek bloodline which in the St. Louis area began from a Dr. Wiffler in the 1930’s.

We hunted extensively with our beagles when they were not in the field trials. During those times in Missouri, it was a hey day for rabbit hunting. Rabbits were everywhere, and the farmers welcomed the hunters to kill them. The limit then was 10 rabbits apiece. Without embellishing, we often took as many as 60 rabbits a day, and for some of the farms that we hunted, took as many as 250-300 rabbits during the season.

I learned a lot about beagles in those times from both the field trial days and the hunting experiences. I learned how to help train a dog, and when to let it learn on its own. One thing I did glean from those experiences is that control of your dog is of utmost importance.

Besides rabbits, I have extensively hunted squirrels, deer, turkey and quail. If I had to choose one game that I absolutely love to hunt, it would be squirrels.

I have had several dogs, from Brittany spaniels to beagles. I now own a 6 year old beagle that I helped to start on its own. He is not a field trail dog, but will run rabbits in a circle, jump his own rabbits, go through the thick stuff like a bull dozer, go till he can’t go anymore, and most of all will obey my commands.

I am a retired forest fire officer for the state of Michigan. I got my first beagle at about the age of eight, someone dropped it off on our farm, he started running rabbits that fall, if you wanted to go hunting with him you had to tie him up or he would be in one of the swamps on his own running when you were ready to go. Had a great uncle that had beagles all his life and was a great source of info. He was a crusty old fart to everybody and everything except his beagles and me. Hare

I am the Athletic Director at a High School. Before I took this job I coached BAseball and Football. My Dad and Granddad always hunted rabbits. They got out when I was a child. I do remember them skinning a bunch of rabbits, but never going. My dad took me rabbit hunting with some of his buddies that had dogs when I got older, but there were not many rabbits and those dogs loved to run deer. I believe I had seen one rabbit race by the time I was in college. That's when it happened. My girlfriends dad asked me and my dad if we wanted to rabbit hunting one Saturday, my Dad said we would go but to not expect much because it just wasn't many rabbits as the old days. Well, we killed 22 that day. My Dad got to relive some his past with a good hunt like that and I got the fever for rabbit dogs. Two years later when I married my girlfriend her Dad gave me two pups. They never made rabbit dogs, but it got me started. Today, I have 11 beagles. 5 at my house that we hunt with and 6 at my cousins house. 2 of those are retired now. Axl is 13 years old and Ace is 11. The rest are pups.
I played alot of softball and golf in my younger days. About 10 years ago I gave them up for kids and rabbit dogs and have not regretted one minute of it. Family, rabbit and deer hunting, and fishing are my hobbies now.

I manage the Payroll Dept. for a large Engineering-Construction company. I've worked in various accounting positions within this same organization since I finished college in 1989. I may even issue paychecks to some you folks. My group handles payroll for projects all around the US.

I've been around beagles most of my life. I used to run my uncle's hand me down beagles when I was a teenager, then I was "hound-free" for several years in college. I used to race dirt track cars and play some golf. But nothing has ever been in my blood like hounddogs.

I am a photographer, I own a photo lab and studio. I have been around dogs my whole life. My parents always had Chihuahuas, (UGH). Obedience trained my first dog when I was 8. When it was time to get my own, I started with Dobes, loved em. Went on to Labs when I started having kids, Have had Labs for more then 20 years now. Never had a beagle, never wanted a beagle. When he came home one day at the age of 35, (had never owned a dog of his own) and said "I want a beagle". My answer was "WHAT???? You want a what???? NO YOU DON'T" He was adamant, so I did homework, discovered the Patch line and we went from no beagles to 3 beagles in less then a year. We now have 5 residing in the house alongside 2 Labs.

Good thread.

I own a Auto/Commercial/Residential glass company.

I have had beagles around my entire life, my dad always had a beagle running around the house that could scream on rabbits. They doubled up as pets too.

I always had a house dog as a kid, it started with collies, then Lhasa Apsos. I was dogless for the 10 years I was in the navy and for the first couple afterwords until my wife finally gave in and let me have a beagle that my brother gave me. Electronics and electricity is what the navy taught me and I now have a degree in RF electronics. I have worked for phone comnanies, cable tv construction companies, business phone system companies, computer chip mfg companies, tile flooring installation, school bus driver, but now I have the best and worst job of my life (stay at home dad). Some days are very rewarding and others make me wonder why I still have hair left on top of my head.

First beagle was given to me by my brother, and I have had 9 since then. I have 2 at home presently and might be adding another pup fairly soon. Chasing bunnies with these little creatures isn't a passion, it is an addiction.

My name is Emery and I am a beagle-holic!

I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 kids (ages 8, 5, and 3) and a full-time college student at Kent State U. My husband is the one that got me into beagles and hunting when we met 9 yrs ago (high school sweethearts lol). He is a Power Plant Operator and Boat Captain on the Ohio River at one of the bigger coal-fired plants in the nation. His family has been into hounds (both beagles and coonhounds) since before he was born so he was raised with them just like my kids will be. :D

I am a network engineer. I've always hunted and fished. Got a pair of beagles growing up but gave them away when I moved out of my parents house. Had been out of beagling a while until about 6 years ago some friends invited me to go rabbit hunting with them. That reminded me of how much fun it was so I got some more. My son is 9 now and I wanted him to have as much fun with beagles as I did growing up.

Awesome thread!
I am in the WV Army National Guard and a full time federal accounting technician for the WVARNG. I am also the youth leader at my church for high school and middle school kids. (volunteer) I have had atlest one beagle since about the age of 6. Having a home, family, church, work, and youth group takes up most of my time. But it is so relaxing to go out and listen to the dogs run. I don't get to do it near as much as I would like, but I love it! It can be aggrevating at times, but such is life.

Retired 1SG out of the 82nd Airborne. Now I work for the Postal Service.

Mom gave me my first beagle about 5 years ago. She is a grade dog that doesn't do anything great but doesn't do anything wrong. Everything is about average.
Bought two more from Lynn Perkins and then it was on. Have bought 6 from Perkins and been happy with all of them. I believe that I have learned more from the little hounds than I have from anyone.

My name is Dale and I am a beagle-holic.
