For the quality I would get the toyota. There may be some problems with the new style offered in 07-08 while they get a real world shake down. I would look for a low mileage 06 crew cab model. I wouldnt worry about flag wavers with the buy american lingo. Chevy trucks are made in Mexico and Canada, Toyota trucks are made in the USA.

As far as the money going overseas, Toyota is a publicly traded company that anyone can buy stock for. If I'm american and own Toyota stock, your money goes into my pocket not overseas.

Saying buy american when talking about trucks actually means buy Toyota. Why not support a company that is actually creating jobs in america rather that sending them to mexico or China just to increase increas its own profits?

I think there is things to look at. Have you talked to your insurance man to find out how much difference between the trucks your insurance is going to be. Check out the gas mileage on each one. What are you going to use it for. If your looking at a 3/4 ton truck vs a 1/2 less gas mileage but more towing power. When it comes to life of a truck people could write in and tell you all kinds of stories and how many miles there truck has. I own a 1998 1/2 ton Chevy Silvarado 4x4 and it has pull everthing and has been everywhere and has 175,000 miles and it runs just like it did the first day. I think whatever your gut feeling is telling you that is the truck you should buy. I use to buy from the U.S. top three helping to support the union workers because my dad was big in the unions when I was growing up but the other day I went home and he was talking about buying a Toyota camry car. either way you will come out a winner.

I run an electrical company with only Chevy's since 1981, we've tried them all and the Chevy although pricier than Ford or Dodge new saves us a ton of money everytime. The Toyota is one of the priciest. Time down on repairs and not out in the field working will kill you if your in business. We never retire one until it's at least 10 years old and is in excess of 400,000 miles. By the way we've never replaced a motor, tranny, or rearend. All this with employee's driving them so I know they aren't babied, and they're loaded heavy. But as with any man made products a lemon will come with any line. My problem with Toyota, parts aren't normally replaceable only ASSEMBLIES of parts you really don't need. Hey to each his own. I personnally own a 1990 short wide half ton as a spare vehicle for the whole family with 315,000 that leaks or uses nothing and can set in the driveway for months at a time never started and will go anywhere any time at a seconds notice.

I've always liked chevys, but my toyota is at 142000 and feels like it did when it was new. I can't say that about any of the chevys I've had.

Heard on the news today that in WV last year Chevy outsold everyone in trucks and cars. Toyota 2nd, Dodge then Ford. Silverado #1 in trucks and Cobalt #1 in cars. Anything but a Ford is my opinion. But its is just like beagling....drive what you like!

I believe we should thank Toyota for making U.S. auto makers up their quality standards. I work for a corporation that builds frames for Tundras, so I know how quality minded Toyota is. They take quality VERY serious. By the way, I own a 2007 GMC 4x4 crew cab. Really nice truck! 15,000 miles and only had to change oil 4 or 5 times   :D

I owned a 89 Toyota drove it to death. Sold it in 1999 cause I needed a bigger truck. Bought a 1996 Ford F250 (Powerstroker)Pretty good truck but had some issues. Thank goodness for the 100,000 mile warranty on the Stroker motor. Upgraded in 2002 to a 2001 F250 nice truck might be the best looking truck I've ever owned ( Looked awful on that roll back though) Had it a week and it blew the O ring on the high psi fuel pump (1st trip on roll back).. covered my driveway and the road in front of neighbors house, not counting after it rained it killed half of my yard. Few months later cam position sensor went out left me stranded. :angryfire: ( 2nd trip on roll back) Then for the next few years it did alright ,although I tweaked and tuned on it with some aftermarket upgrades. It hit 100,000 and all hell broke loose from front wheel bearings to water pump oh yeah another cam position sensor( I was told by Ford dealer them things just don't last long!!!) :headache: Numerous other things that I have blocked from my memory. So I sold it and bought a 2005 ToyotaTacoma. I don't think I will regret it either.
I did buy a old 1984 Ford F150 4x4 straight 6 for a work and hunting truck. Ooopps I've worked on it constantly since I bought it, but least I can work on it.

Bottom line it's your money buy what you want.

I had the same question on here the year before last. I bought the Chevy.
They wanted as much for a 2 wheel drive Toyota as a 4 wh drive Chevy, not to mention the Chevy just DROVE better
The small Toyota didn't get any better gas miliage than the Chevy 5.3
The Tundra seemed to be lower geered so you had to stay in the gas. Harder driving.

My Old z71 has 300,000 miles on it. We still use it for running dogs local. Same engine. 5.7 vortex.

I now have a Chevy Silverado Step Side 4 wd z71 5.3 extended cab and love it. I get about 22 mpg and it hauls a trailor just fine and I LOVE my heated leather seats :D

We ALSO bought a Chevy Silverado HD 2500 Vortex ext cab 6.0 4 wd for the company. Looks just like the one in the picture a page or two back. Plenty of POWER and a GOOD looking truck. You hit that passing geer and she KEEPS gaining speed. LOL she aint a tonka toy. We haul a trailor for work a lot of times for conduit and such and bought her for her hauling capability. Isn't great on Gas (15 mpg) but is a serious work horse. We lifted the

I just wasn't impressed with the toyotas when it came down to driving them or what they had to offer. The Chevy's practically drive themselves and so far no problem outside of an oil change for either. I wasn't gaining anything with the Toyota except a higher price tag and a name.

One more thing (hehehehe). I was at a trial last weekend in the slick red mud in Alabama. We had to drive down a power line with deep ruts up and down steep hills. I was in the middle of the line and watched them fords and dodges and tundras slip and slide all over the place. My Silverado cut right through the mud just fine. No sliding or slipping. Just trucked right through. That was really the worst test I had put on that truck and she passed with flying colors. :D

I have never owned a Toyota or a foreign vehicle. I know people that have owned the big three trucks and have lots of problems. I own a Chevy and am very happy! I would suggest test driving all of them, check the power, and listen to the sounds as you drive. Feel how you fit in the truck, because they are all different. As far as them breaking down, it happens to all of them. Warrantees, I have heard, are better on foreign vehicles, as are the trade in value. Good luck with your decision. Keena

The fellows saying buy American are not informed. I live in west virginia and toyota employs quite a few people around here whos money is spent around here. Far as i am concerened that is american. I have had both toyota and chevy silverado. The chevy was nicer and had more power and comfort but the toyota would go and go and go. Just my .02 cents

My Vote is Toyota. 1000% I bought a Tundra Quad Cab 4x4 and bought my wife the Toyota Sienna Mini Van. Assembled in Ossian,Indiana. I tried the American Products and recieved VERY POOR TREATMENT at the Dealers REPAIR SHOPS. NOTHING WAS EVER COVERED. After the dealer told me that on my wifes Dodge MiniVan for the last time I told him I would never buy another American Vehicle EVER!!!! I told him I am on my way to the Toyota Dealership and traded in my Truck and my wifes Van and we drove by the Dealer on the way home and Thanked him for guiding me in the right direction. The salesman even came by my house the first year and took our vehicles in for scheduled service and oil changes and left us with a vehicle during the day and dropped it back off. I will stay with that salesman and dealership until he retires for that type of service. The company I work for only buys American vehicles and we have had numerous problems, we gave up on Dodge all together and Chevey vehicles had more electronical problems than we could count and now we are Trying Fords.Even the service Fleets here in Maryland are switching more and more to the Toyota for the Quality that thre American Vehicles are lacking and couple that with the Service Centers that dont repair anything for free and nothing on your warranty is ever covered is the reason Toyota is climbing and will be top dog very shortly and the Amercian Vehicles are falling. And the fact that Mexico and Canada are assembling the American Vehicles I will stay with Toyota.. I work too hard for my money to give it to poor quality products with no backing.
