Congrats to Thane Page, Dave Martin, & Buell Johnson

Post by greenbay »

Gogebic Range Beagle Club held their annual AKC snow trial Jan. 5th & 6th. Thane Page and his 2.5 year old, 15 male beagle, departed from Sparta, Wisconsin and made the four hour journey to Ironwood, Michigan. THIS WAS THANE'S FIRST TRIAL IN WHICH HE ENTERED A HOUND. He stopped at my house on his way home. With an ear to ear smile, he stated, "The trophy is sooooooooooo big, it barely fits in my truck." Not many guys win their first trial! Congrats to Thane and his fine hound Sam.

The breeder of his dog Sam, and owner of the dam is Buell Johnson, Riverdale, Michigan. Buell's female, Shoreacres Dinah has produced several outstanding dogs. Congratulations to Buell as well!

It should also be noted that Dave "Buschbound" Martin won the 13" female class at the same trial as above. His hound, Big Booty Judy, is a younger sister to Thane Page's Sam hound. Cheers to Buschbound! Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those Shooter/Dinah pups sure have strong noses...............

I had the pleasure of running with a Shooter/Dinah pup about three weeks ago she is around 13 months old, first time on snow, and she looked excellent! Three of us each ran a pup and had fabulous running on excellent conditions but she really looked good. Kurt Robinson

Congrats Thane,

I was sitting at home babysitting all weekend and you're out winning trials. That just isn't fair.
Are you still going to hunt every so often, or are you strictly a "trial guy" now?

Bluegrass:
Watson (15") is a littermate to Shooter. (13") I believe Buell Johnson is going to cross them again. Dinah is only six years old. There was a gentleman on this site advertising a male for sale out of Shooter & Dinah not too long ago. I think his name is Stan C., from Lower Michigan.

klrconcrete:
The 13 month old female you saw run would be a littermate to Dave Martin's Green Bay Big Booty Judy. (winner of Gogebic's snow trial) It seems every dog from this cross is terrific.

Here is a pic of Judy does anyone else have pics of hounds out of this cross? It seems this cross has thrown different sizes. Judy was a bit camera shy. It was her 1st time... haha. Judy is about 12-12 1/4

The female I ran with looks alot like Shooter's page 2- same shape to her head and muzzle and looks to be the same size and build, she is a full heavy black blanket with ticking- very nice little hound with a beautiful loud sharp chop mouth. Kurt Robinson

Kurt, thanks. One thing though on my female; my mistake on the age. I estimated when you asked me & on my records the purchase date kind of catches your eye first. But, she was born on 7/23/06 which makes her older than 13 months. I believe she is from the same litter as the Judy female shown here. Her experience on the ground, however, is very limited & that was her first time on snow. I'm very happy with her, especially on hare. Hoping to see you and Earl soon.
The other reason I posted here is: I'm the Stan mentioned by Greenbay with the Shooter male for sale; but, he was out of Greenbay Shooter X Blueberry Knoll Sally, not Dinah. He was sold. I agree with all these positive comments on the Greenbay Shooter breedings. I think he's proving to be an excellent producer.
