Three Days of good hunting......pics

Post by Joeyman »

I spent three days in the field with my dogs. We had some good running.

This was a short hunt with Done Gone Beagles.
Jumped 7 rabbits took home 4

I had the chance to hunt a private farm sunday with a co-worker. We walked along fence rows and small thickets in the woods. Also jumped a few out of a creek side. The dogs jumped 10 rabbits 4 went straight to the hole. Didn't even think about running for us. They have a coyote problem.
This is what the area looked like

This was our anual new years day hunt. I brought three dogs this day. They did an awesome job considering the conditions. It was freezing cold and very very windy. I bet the winds were gusting 25-30mph. It was hard on the dogs but they still pulled thru for us. Main problem was when the rabbits ran thru open field. Between us and the dogs we jumped 16-18 rabbits (I lost count) and managed to take home 8 bunnies. Poor shooting from all us. I could easily got another 3 myself but bad shooting. My brother brought a family friend with us. He couldn't hit a thing even if his life depended on it. But it was fun doing alot of shooting and making fun of each other when we'd miss. It was a great day.

Now this here was wierd. When we were cleaning the rabbits. 4 balls dropped out of one. We were like what the heck. So we cut one of the balls open and they were baby rabbits. 4 Total you can see there feet and heads already formed. So we really killed 12 lol....

I don't know why they are already breeding. Seems early don't ya think??

Here in Mi.It seems almost all the rabbits I shoot later in the season are males.(march) And when I do get a female some times I find the round balls in them. They must be breeding by you.I sure do love those long nonstop runs we get later in the season though!
