HELP
I was out hunting with a couple of friends, and they noticed that my bitch was starting to shack and she took a seziure in the middle of the road as we were moving to new spot. The guy i bought her off of was there too, and i ask him if she had ever done that before on him, and she has never done that before, until then. I put her up for a couple of days figureing she might just be a lil sick, and i took her out again, and she starting to have an onther one and i caught her in time to stop it. What might be causing this problem. Thanks for all your advice.

doesn't sound like epilepsy to me because she only does it out running and I'm assuming its cold? and you cannot "stop" a seizure from coming if its already starting to happen. Please take her to a vet and have him run a blood panel and give her a good examination.

I had bought a female years ago and her first seizure was when we went hunting...She was new to me at the time...I have since learned how to control her seizures..hers was caused by stress...Your female may have been nervous since she was new to you being around her.......
Mine hasnt had a seizure that i know of in about 2 years....no meds either for her....she is very healthy...

If it only happened once, when her blood sugar was low, I'd say probably just hypoglycemia. Although, keep in mind that hypoglycemic hounds will show other symptoms before they begin to seize, and seizures from hypoglycemia are much rarer than you'd think.
Since she had another one when out running again, I'd have to say you can be fairly certain this is ideopathic epilepsy, which is genetic. I have a 7yr old hound that started having seizures when he was about 18-20 months old - we had inexpensive thyroid & blood tests to rule out any other conditions and rule in epilepsy. Stress is a MAJOR trigger for his seizures. If he got worked up about anything when he was younger, it would immideately trigger a seizure. His were actually very bad ones, so I was unable to run him any longer

Thanks to all

Bring a syringe (remove the needle) and give her a few slow squirts of pedialyte or gatorade throughout the day as well, along with her usual water?
