Both Lambeau and Sandi wins/places have been on cottontail and hare.
Sandi is only 2.5 years old. She can have a minimum of 50 pups in her life time. Average, $250.00-$300.00 a pup. You can do the math????
Just make a reasonalble offer.
She has one of the strongest bitchlines of today..........
When intelligent beaglers buy a male to stud what do you think they look at? #1. His pedigree #2. How old he is? #3. How many times can I stud him in his life time? #4. Can I get my money back and then make some?
When you buy a female what do you look for?????????? Sandi has proven herself in the field over and over. No questions, she is one of the best LP 13" females in the country, period. So how would YOU, Todd, put a price on her? What do you think a dog of her accomplishments, age, pedigree, dispositon, and conformation is worth????
Let's hear it Todd, what is ANY female hound, as described above, worth?
Most guys do not sell their field champions. They know how much work it is and how far and few between they are. I would really like to hear what other guys would sell their Field Champions for.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not from intelligent beaglers, this is from business beaglers...... Your only in it for the $$$$$
My point to you is... If Sandi is worth the $3000 that you told me you wanted for her, then don't justify it by saying, "Sandi is only 2.5 years old. She can have a minimum of 50 pups in her life time. Average, $250.00-$300.00 a pup. You can do the math???? "
Spoken like a true Beagler(NOPE) Businessman...
Let her record stand for itself....
I believe a FC, especially a female, should be worth that kind of money. If someone is looking for a foundation in their kennel it is definately worth it, if that is the style of hound you like. I have run with Joe at a few trials and he knows good hounds. If I were to run 13's, then he is a good man to get one from. If you don't try to get some money back on your hounds, then you are a fool. You can't drive to all of these trials and spend that kind of time on a dog and not try to get what they are worth. Do the math
2 days at a motel $ 150
Entry fee $20
Food $ 40
= 210 for a weekend trial
Probably atleast 10 trials to make FC if not more that's over $2000
I don't think that Joe is trying to make money, just get what she is worth and explaining that she will have more that $3000 in pups in a few breedings.

You make a great point. I understand that trialing is, or can be expensive...
I never had a problem with the price. My problem was the way he was trying to justify the price. The whole min. 50 pups thing, maybe I just over reacted.
Joe,
I'm sorry I highjacked your thread, I hope that one day we do meet, I would love to run dogs with you.
My offer is an open offer, anytime you want to make a trip to Vermont and run your dogs, you let me know.
Well said Keith, If I purchased this hound its value would be determined by its ability under the gun, not by the amount of pups she could squirt out over the next few years or by the fact that it has achieved FC status! I believe thats how all hounds should be priced after all isnt that what they are all about? Or am I missing something? Kurt Robinson
Not afraid to think outside the box or walk outside the crowd.
I see this post has got way off topic.. So I will post about this topic one last time.
What is a AKC registered Field Champion Worth?
In my own opinion wildhare2 post says it all. After all the cost of going to trials- entry fees, gas, motels, food, donations to clubs not to mention different registration fees. feeding this hound for how many years top quality feed, what about all the training that has been put into this hound to get it to where it is today. There is alot of other spenditures with fuel and time spent here as well.
I think at $2,000-$3,000 is a very fair price for a FC. hound just based on the time, feed, alone not to mention the hounds accomplishments. I've heard other FC sell for $25,000, $10,000, $6,000, $5,000, now $3,000 is a low end price for a FC. of this caliber.
I personally wouldn't pay that much for a hound because my pocket book wouldn't allow it but I'm sure there are guys out there that it wouldn't bother them.
If I had the money to spend and was going to try to establish a good breeding program yeah, I'd purchase a hound at this price all day long.
Norwester says " A hounds value is determined by the buyer" In a way he is right. If this dog sold at an agreed price then this is what the hound was worth to the seller. True of false I don't know!
Beagling has always been known to be a poorman's sport! Well guess what guys times change.
entry fees going up every year, registration going up, gas, food, ect.
ask a breeder of labs what their FC lab is worth? Your jaw will hit the floor!
Why doesn't AKC do more for us beaglers? Why can't we get big sponsors like some of these other big name dog events? There is NO money in beagling for theses people. It's been like this for years and we will always be the low end of the dog trade because we the people made it this way.
Joe, If I had $3,000 I'd buy any of these hounds because I know what you have there and I know you are not in it for the money. I'm sure you are selling them to make room for other upcoming winners and to cover some of your expenses for your not so cheap hobbie!

P.S. Is there a difference in price of a FC. Male or FC Female with same pedigree and same running styles? I see guys sometimes sell female pups a little higher than males. (the making of a new thread)

I just recently saw IFC GreenBay Shooter run, he was a great hound, would love to see Sandi run as well. Anything with greenbay in front of a hound's name is worth the money. As I said Shooter is one heck of a hound, and for a female to reach FC with heat cycles and puppies, thats impressive. So I do believe that price is very fair, heck I would have thought it was more. Now I have yet to see this Sandi dog run or to be honest, ever see it period, but like I said, anything with a greenbay name in front of a hound, the price is probably going to be fair.
Greenbay, good luck campaigning your hounds in 08.

"We want a rabbit hound to run to catch by good clean check work."
i have seen sandi run several times if you like hard hitting little bitches that control the pack from the front push the rabbit with speed and control with anywhere from 30 to 50 plus hounds behind her maybe she is for you .how often do you see someone fc 2 to 3 dogs per year out that also are running for better beagling high hound every year this takes major time devotion and dollars to do,as for joe doing it for the money i don't believe that i think joe loves the competition if you champion out 2 to 3 per year how many can you kennel and let sit rotting in the kennel to run and keep trialing young dogs thanks bullboy
