Tim L , tinymwoods and myself went out today with one sole purpose, run young hounds. We took out our newest 18 month old bitch ... my young northway male, and Tim L's pups out of our bitch Fancy in Red and his big male Streak ( northway bred pups ) .... Man ol man what a time we had.
Had several blow ups but that can be expected. had several good hot races.. and a couple hit and miss... all dogs done real well and the youngest male of the group looked as good as i have ever seen him. My male CJ jumped his share and hammered down as much as possible and the new gyp done REAL well. the other northway pup ( a red female ) started up today and opened :) We hunted one of our honey holes ( no guns allowed!! Roy's for those of you who hunts with us) and man we had a blast!

We were some proud popa's watching the young ones work ... and few times anymore we three can get out together!!

We still doin' it the MtnWay!

Thurs. report.Took neihbor kid out.had 5 runs that were pretty good.he ended up killing 2 after several misses. The best part about it was he never ran with hounds before. He said it was pretty cool when the rabbit is hopping towards you when you shoot.instead of running away.(he only has ever jump shot).I think he will have a beagle come spring!

Just in case you guys are still stuck in the cube this afternoon.... Here are a couple of photos we took this morning hunting in Missouri. We had 4 hounds, my two and two of Ryan's including his bluetick pup, Lilly. Ryan and I each bagged a rabbit and his Annie caught one. It was a great day to be out of the cubicle and in the field. I'm not proud of the photography.... I've done better.

We're hoping for some snow tomorrow to make the running...... and photography a little more interesting.

Thanks for the pics. I really needed that. It feels like the day has really been dragging on and on.

I am going hunting saturday sunday and monday. I can't wait.

Hey Talldog: they talking snow in your area. They said possible showers late saturday afternoon over this way.

I really like the looks of the dog all the way to the right in the first pic. Looks like one of mine.

Jack is the more photogenic of the two. Both of them are well over 15". Nothing in the pedigree to indicate why so I'm wondering if I fed 'm Purina Puppy Chow too long. Here's a photo I took of him this summer:

And.... Here they both are at 6 months old:

You gotta be careful what you say to me about my dogs.... I'm like the grandma who brings out a couple of photo albums when you ask how the family is doing.

OMG! Good looking hounds--seriously. And there's not a thing wrong with showin them off!
Speaking of size, I had a couple measure 16 1/2 at 8 and 10 months--with nothing in the bloodlines to suggest that would happen. I think you may be right--Purina Puppy Chow too long

I have no idea. I've never measured her... Under 15 probably in the 14inch range somewhere in there.

Here is a female of mine that is in the 13inch class. She is the smallest dog I have

It only matters in field trials--and I hear that may change
She's a good looking dog, and it sounds like she's one darn fine rabbit dog.

Yeah Talldog if we would breed these two dogs we sure would have some nice looking Tri-color beagles. I'm a sucker for Tri-Colors.
