A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
I,m sure we have all heard about the scam to buy dogs where the buyer promises a cashiers check or money order upon pick up buy his shipper. Well they have gone one step furture, I got a call the other night from a lady stating she was an operator for the hearing impaired and that there was gentleman on the other end wanting to talk to me. after a series of questions about the pups he gave me his email and ask that I email him pictures and the specifics about the dogs which I did and wouldnt you know I get an email from him with the same poor spelling and english promising a check or money order when his (shipper) pics up the dog for his daughter. I emailed him back, sorry cash on pick up and supprise guess what no returned email. Hey what are the odds that this was an honest man that I miss judged and offended him with my email in return ? I wont post the guys email here just in case but if anyone gets a simalr call and wants it email me and I will get it to you.
This identical scam was tried on my hunting buddy who has a welder advertised for sale. They sent hem a check which he took to the bank and verified it was no good. He was on to their tricks so he didn't lose.
i get this all the time. they always ask about the ITEM . i ask which item. when they say puppy i say which one. they ask the final price & i say $20,000.00. this will get a laugh out of the operator. then the disconnect.
I have gotten 4-5 calls a month like that. I tell them "pickup in person and with cash only" and they always hang up. I want to tell them" I have a bad case of Parvo and Rabies, do you still want a pup?" That would get someones attention!!!!!!!!!!!
