Post by dave404 »

My Dan male, 5yr old, has lost about 50% of his voice. No females in heat and no barking in kennel . This started back early summer and hasnt improved. I have given him amoxocillin , any suggestions ?

Did he get something stuck in the throat pehaps? I heard one time a dog had a bone stuck in the throat that no one detected until a few months later, once it was removed everything was fine but you just couldn't tell it was there.

Do you know if he could have been in a kennel fight? The same thing happened to one of my older males last year after he got loose and a large dog roaming the area got him by the neck. The attack only lasted a few seconds and there was only the smallest puncture wound but this dog was hoarse for several weeks afterwards. I gave him raw beef several times a week to coat his throat and he honestly seemed to do better each time he had the meat. Sounds crazy but I know it helped. Was also giving him oil in his food thinking that migh thelp too. His voice is totally back to normal now, just as loud as before
