Shot this buck yesterday morning. I saw him along with several other deer working along a creek bank. There were several bucks chasing does and they had been for some time when I figured I'd try to stalk into position for a shot. After crawling and walking for several hundred yards I got to where I thought they were working. As I reached the creek I belly crawled to the edge and peeked over to find a small buck less than 10 yards from me. After he eased off I crawled over the edge and waited. Within minutes a doe came running past me bringing this buck with her. I couldn't get them stopped but felt comfortable taking a shot. I shot him on a dead run at about 50 yards hitting him directly behind the front shoulder causing him to nose dive. He got up and continued running but I knew he was hit hard. He went about 60 yards farther before expiring. Not a monster but it was a fun hunt and a will taste great!

This is my first deer with any size rack. He's a 10 pointer. I got him opening morning. I shot him with a 30-6. I had watched several does and a few smaller bucks that morning. But then i seen this one coming through the thicket in front of me. He was chasing a 6 pointer through the thicket, and turned broadside just enough for me to put a bullet in him. I was pretty excited. He's not a monster to most people, but he's a big un to me. He's going on the wall. Maybe next year i can move up a little.

This is another shot of the deer, with my brother in laws full size lab. It gives an idea on the body size of the deer. Dont know what he weighs, just know he was freakin heavy..

Saw a big ole boy cross the pasture this morning at 7:20, he had a limp to his right shoulder, don't know if he was carring lead or had been in a fight. I thought of cutting him off up ahead but when I came out with the gun the hounds threw a dang fit and he flagged back across where he came from. I think he's bedd'n in the wood lot behind the chicken pen, there's a hard maple back there I think I can climb, gona hafta slip past these dang hounds tho.. .
You guys got some good look'n deer... ;)

I'm not too proud to throw a freezer filler in here....still playing cat and mouse with the big one. :crossfingers:

Hopefully I can connect prior to the "Orange Army" invasion in a week...if not I'll have the smoke pole ready for him.

Not much of a story here....she came from in behind me after being chased by a small buck and laid down in the creek. After getting a drink she came right up in front of my stand offering a 15 yard quartering away shot. A 40 yard death run and it was all over...got both lungs and the top of the heart on the shot.

I finally broke the 8 point barrier. Lots of 4,5,6,&7 pointers. Sitting with my son overlooking our whitetail clover plot when he came trotting through. Just my boys luck, he came through on my side. Maybe next time.

Well here is mine
Well sunday was the last day of our Deer Season here .
We got 2 does early in the season but missed a nice buck and had turned down some Smaller bucks first weekend.
Thought i would get up and go sit on the stand just in case.
Well about 7 AM i got lucky and this fella came runnin across the field toward me. he got within 50 yards just kinda lopin along not quite a full run Well i havnt had real good luck at runnin shots lately so i gave a whistle and danged if he didnt Stop. His mistake.....
Not the one i was after but he will do!!!
