I believe they should go a calander year. The point system should come from your, let's say, ten highest point hunts or less. You should get 10 points for a win and 100% of entry, 9 for second and 90% of entry so on and so on down to tenth. This will ballance out things from people who only get to small hunts and people who can't get to a bunch of hunts, and still give benefit for big hunts.

last time i checked, according to the rule change, max is inneligable to win this year,i may be wrong, but dont think soholeshot wrote:Last time I checked max is leading hoy points with 502.3!!

the way i was told was that a dog can only win the hoy once as an open, twice as a champion, and as many as it can as a grand,i may be wrong,if so,can someone post the correction.........
either or,bottom line,it needs to be changed,jmho

Why not dog whisperer, the owner didn't win those wins it was the dog. It is the dogs accomplishment not the owners. If that were true then they would be judging the handler at the competition not the dog.dogwhisperer wrote:well if you want to get technical about it if you BUY a dog that is in the top ten the points shouldnt roll over from owner to owner .. bottom line when there is compition envovled some one always feels left out so no matter what you do there will be a handfull of un happy people
From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be
HOY is what it is.
It takes a good dog, attending lots of trials, and placing in at least one big hunt.
Did I mention attending lots of trails?
It is a good way to keep those that are competitive driven to attend hunts.
A another excuse to go to a trial, "Hey my dog is #13 HOY points. I have to go to hunts every weekend to place him HOY".
HOY is not the best dog out there.
I don't have the time, or will, to keep a dog in the HOY race, even if I had a dog. I enjoy too many hobbies, including hunting which I will pick over trialing.

i agree to an extent with the buying of a dog in the top ten,but in my situation,i think everyone knows i owned jessie up till 6 days before the world,so,technically,my name may not have been on the papers when he placed 2nd and recieved the points to make top ten,BUT WHO DO YOU THINK GOT HIM READY FOR THE WORLD WHERE HE RECIEVED THE POINTS?????????
jessie was my dog,and yeah,I BOUGHT MY DOG BACK,so,TECHNICALLY,i did not go out and buy me just any dog in the top ten,and i did not do it to be in the top ten,i bought MY dog back that i sold.
and to clear it up,yeah, kevin ran him all summer, then i got him back,so,jessie's accomplishment i guess ya can say,was a TEAM EFFORT.and ask anyone at the lil world that asked me about jessie,i said,"i got him ready for the world, kevin got him ready for the lil world".
so if anyone is insinuating i went out and bought me a top ten dog to be in it,they can just get that out of their head now, everyone knows i owned jessie first

man i have been waitin for a chance to use those smileys, thanks hatnasty

john,i know you knew i owned him before,so i am not takin your comment as a dirrect assault towards me,and i am not directin mine towards you,i just wanna clear that up before people start sayin i bought my way into the runnoff, anyone that knows me,kevin and the events around jessie knows what really happened,if i would have gotten paid for the spirit dog before the world,i would have never sold him,but i was in a spot and needed the cash to go to the world,it killed me to sell jessie and i have been kickin myself in the arse ever since, but fact is,kevin and i both put a lot of time in jessie this year to make him what he is,and if he would happen to go on to win the hoy,you can bet your last dollar,I WILL GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE

no what im sayin is that if you buy a dog that is already in the top ten then if you win it with that dog the owner gets the credit toward hall of fame beagler now should he get the points on his name if he only owned the dog a week.and another scnerio is every one talks about get cheated now if a owner has just sold a dog that means he can now judge that dog at any hunts including the runoff correct

I AGREE,I THINK THAT A FORMER OWNER SHOULD NOT BE ALOWED JUDGIN A DOG HE OWNED FOR 6 MONTHS.dogwhisperer wrote:no what im sayin is that if you buy a dog that is already in the top ten then if you win it with that dog the owner gets the credit toward hall of fame beagler now should he get the points on his name if he only owned the dog a week.and another scnerio is every one talks about get cheated now if a owner has just sold a dog that means he can now judge that dog at any hunts including the runoff correct
AND ANOTHER THING,THE NEW RULE THEY STARTED ABOUT THE OWNERS NAME BEIN ON THE FRONT OF THE PAPERS,AT THE WORLD,KEVIN HAD TO HAVE A FAXED COPY TO SIGN JESSIE IN HIS NAME,AT THE LIL WORLD,I HAD TO OVERNGHT JESSIES PAPERS AND PAY OVERNIGHT TO GET THEM BACK BECAUSE OF THIS RULE.
BUT,WHAT IF I HAD NOT GOTTEN THEM BACK,ACCORDING TO THE NEW RULE,I WOULD HAVE NEEM FORCED TO SIGN HIM UP IN KEVINS NAME,THEN,IF I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TO JUDGE,I MAY HAVE HAD TO JUDGE MY OWN DOG.
THAT IS A PRIME EXAMPLE ON WHY A RULE NEEDS TO BE MADE,IF YA SELL A DOG,YOU CANNOT JUDGE THAT DOG FOR 6 MONTHS.
AND I DO FEAL WHAT YOUR SAYIN ABOUT HOF BEAGLER AWARDS,THAT IS VERY TRUE.
