Jack, that's why you were asking about the performance of Bleu Laura hounds. My bluetick is out of her and he's a looker. Now I'll tell you the truth about him. He is the fastest hound in eastern Ky, but only when he is backtracking. He only cold trails all the time but sounds good doing it. The only trash he ever ran was deer, elk, turkey, bear, housecats (stays at the tree for hours), digs in the hole, won't come back when I turn him loose, but looks good doing it. You know I am not being serious, I am as satisfied with him as I am with any hound I ever owned. I wish I had time to go to trials because he is so hard-hitting and overall tough that I believe he would do well. Good luck with the litter, that should be a super cross from all the good things I have heard about Deacon.

JB,

First and foremost, i made this cross for myself, i'll be keeping atleast 2 at my house and sending 1 to dads if enough survive... Sure i'll be selling whats left (if any) for $150... However, being that they'll be AKC/UKC and UKC Incentive fund @ $150 i'm probably loosing money once you figure in what i gave for laura.... However, i'm simply looking to profit the hounds i gain from this litter...

As far as the cross goes.... #1 i'll have some early starters with tons of desire. Deacon (Great personality and tons of brains) hunts good, opens only when the rabbit has been jumped and flat runs the rabbit with all his heart... Plenty of foot and control on line. He is honestly probably the quickest dog i've own to date. He has been throwing some really nice rabbit dogs. The oldest being only 1.5 years old or so. Laura is Eagle x Heather. She is the 3rd dog i've owned out of Heather and based on what i've seen out of Heather (Owned her at one point) and the 2 other dogs out of her given that Laura's sire is Iron Eagle... I'm hoping Laura and Deacon together will throw good size hounds (stocky made) with tons of hunt (thick in the brush, tail about ready to fall off), opening just right if not a step or 2 before the rabbit is jumped (first strike without being too early), and then once its up, given eaglexlaura nose on deacon's foot should make for some footy dogs that should maintain a good control with plenty of foot. If they are anything like Deacon they'll be made alittle leggy and will flat be able to go all day.

However, its all a crap shoot... But ask me about then in a few months and maybe i'll have some good reports...

Sorry for rambling on and on...
