So far so good on Wookie Pups. All I can say is come down and watch him run and some of the pups. Joe also bred a female to him before Joe passed on, Colby Hill trudy but those pups are young. I haven't heard any bad reports yet, all we can do is what and see. I would not wait to long on his pups he just turned Ten Years old.beva4633 wrote:Question for Adam, Hilltop kennels. How would you rate Wookie up there for a stud dog, or have you not seen enough of his offspring running to make that call, or Striker if you have seen more of what he has produced. I have a litter on the ground right now out of Wookie and my female that I am real happy with, they will be a year old 10-16-07, but that is only one litter. I talked with Donnie Yant, before breeding to him and he had nothing but good things to say about Wookie himself. He was breeding some of his top females to him at the time. I have talked with Johnl about his Doc dog, he had nothing but positive to say, and I see Colby Hill Peggy, that Joe Corullo was running, doing an outstanding job in AKC,winning Northern Michigan Hare Association outstanding 15" female for 2006. I realize this is a small number of accomplishments, but it should still say something for old Wookie. Brian.
Adam
The best dogs to me is when a bunch of guys get together in evening and can put down 21 dogs down at one time and just listen and watch them run. No breakdowns, no splits, just rabbit runnin machines. They where from different registries, but they only had one thing on their mind and that was to catch the rabbit. This is what you call a bunch of good ole boys acting like kids with a new toy.

To old to cut the mustard, you can always run beagles

Current Stud Dog Ranking
[1] Reggie Or Blazer [Toss Up Here] [2]Buzzsaw [3]Lumberjack [4]Brairpatch Black Boone [5]Wookie The reason I rated both Reggie and Blazer as #1 both has pups that are starting to show up in all format's. Both have places in Spo and large pack. Both are solid running hounds. Reggie [INF] Blazer {Hound of the Year] Can't see where you could go wrong with either one. The reason I did'nt list Turbo or Primetime is They are gone but here is a son of each passing on there traits. Also there blood seems to cross good with each other. Number of hounds with both blood lines doing good. Both are young hounds what pups they have on the ground so far are 3years old or younger. Out of these they are showing to throw excelent pups. Dont own any thing out of Reggie Yet! Have Pups out of Blazer [5 months old] Can't hardley wait to get started.
send me pedigrees

I went down to adams and watched wookie run and all I can say is wow he was nine years old and he put on a show he has good foot good mouth and ran the line like a dog should I have not personally bred to him yet but when I get the the chance I intend to.He also has other males that I have watched run and all I can say is that you should go watch them all run. I have no interest in going outside of my kennel, to breed to a stud dog.
However...if I was to go out, I would consider these hounds in no particular order:
FC Higher's Winston Cup
IFC Steve's Little Ranger
FC Catskill Creek Daschel
FC JD's Hill Billy Willy
FC Sabattus Mountain Melchior
These are hounds that the owners don't brag about, people don't pump them up, and the owners don't go through the aggrivation of offering them at stud.
These as many of the hounds mentioned in this post, I have SEEN. Not heard about. These hounds account for their game and don't get raddled with pack pressure. All 5 of these hounds have placed on both hare and cottontail, in two or more formats that the AKC offers. More importantly I know that 4 out of 5 of them have been hunted extensively.
I haven't heard about them, read about them on the internet, or just seen their picture in the magazine. I have SEEN these dogs and SEEN their offspring, and they all have produced FIELD CHAMPIONS. These are hounds that account for
To larry G., I have SEEN both Striker and Speedy Sport run on multiple occasions...if you want to know more about both of these hounds send me an email or a pm.
oh...and I forgot IFC JNK's Shakin Shep and FC Preacher Brook Charlie...two also very nice hounds that are producing similar to themselves.
