Jimmy thanks for the PR work. I'll have to secure a couple silver bullets for you from one of the local watering holes after the trial is over with.

Anyhow answer the windsplitter's question our club will be running our 2008 licensed trial from Tri-County Quails Unlimited Club grounds in the Woodbine community in Corbin, KY. For those that have attended our trials in the past, this is around another 45 minutes to 1 hour south.

Directions are as follows: Take I-75 south to Exit 25 Corbin(2nd exit)... Turn left onto Cumberland Falls Highway. Proceed 9/10th mile and turn right onto Corbin Bypass. Proceed 1.4 miles and turn left onto KY-3041. Proceed 1/10 mile and turn right onto US26. Proceed on US-26 for 1 mile. Turn left onto US6/Barbourville Road. Proceed on US-6 for 3.3 miles. Turn left onto Tri-County Quails Unlimited Club Road... Proceed on this dirt road for 2/10 mile... white clubhouse on left. Signs to be posted. Coming north turn right onto Cumberland Falls Highway and follow the rest of the directions just the same.

The grounds are around about 6 to 7 total miles off the interstate. Several motels/hotels right off the exit near several pubs and restaurants.

Full page add is located in the September issue of Better Beagling. Also feel free to refer to http://www.mid-west-gundog.com or http://www.southkybeagleclub.com

We had real great turn out back in the spring for our derby trial. All in attendance were praising the grounds and the abundance of game. We hope all those folks will return as well many of their friends and acquaintances.

The current clubhouse we are using isn't the greatest, but there's another building on the grounds we plan to use in 2008 and the future.

South will be holding a stud auction at the trial that will conclude at noon on Sunday. Fees from this stud auction will be used towards our new clubhouse.
If any of you folks that may perhaps missed out on one of the studs from the benefit auction for the kids in Indiana... Here's another opportunity for you to obtain services perhaps one of those studs. While I don't have as many studs as the previous auction, there are several that are the same hounds. Once again thanks to those stud owners who have donated their hounds services. Any of you guys out there with stud hounds that wish to donate, feel free to contact me at 606-309-7281 or fuzzkennels@gmail.com

I am sending aka---Wildman to eastern ky to be deer broken from there
i would suggest too all watch out cuz he is the best young dog i have run for a minute. He is absolutly a rabbit running machine.I heard his parents maybe have been tearing it up.I am so fired up i cant wait to get him thru a good gun season. He is tuff make no mistake about it. .He has a touch more nose power than my line, foot to spare. Casey will live thru my kennels within the next year. I got a little breeding in mind as we speak. Probaly gonna hurt some feelings in lp

Post by windsplitters »

Thinking about trying this hunt What is the difference between a derby trial and a Licenced Trial. Also what do I need to do to be able to run in this trial do I need to be a club member or does my dog have to quailify or what. also were can I find the rules at that shows how the scoreing is done. also when is the measureing done.

Thanks

Windsplitter... Danny is just pulling your leg. You don't have to be a member of an AKC club to enter. Only thing you need to enter is your AKC registration papers and entry fee. As for the difference between a derby and a LICENSED TRIAL, which this upcoming one is this.

AKC Derby Trial - Trial held for younger hounds born between a certain time frame. For example in 2008, to be consider a derby dog.. a hound would have to be born between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007.

AKC Licensed Trial - Trial held where any hound can be entered. Placement of obtain garners you championship points towards an AKC Field Champion. Points are given as is... 1st Place - 100% of the # of entries, 2nd place - 50%, 3rd Place - 33%, 4th Place - 25%. NBQ - Next Best Qualified, no points awarded.
Example... 50 Entries... 1st place - 50 points, 2nd place - 25 points, 3rd Place - 16.67 points, 4th place - 12.5 points. In order to become AKC Field Champion, you must obtain 3 wins and 120 points. Wins must be in classes larger than 6.

If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me. Look forward to seeing everyone.
