Here are the Indiana regulations. Please note that not every place is open until Feb 15th. See page #6.

I would like to see the season dates stay just the way they are here.

Opening rabbit season early is fine with me, but leaving it in to late is what hurts the rabbit population.

I think it is fine the way it is myself. I like to get my dogs and head out for a good rabbit hunt as much as I can. It usually is a little warm but at least it is not 90 degrees. The thing is if they would move season up to starting the 1st of December then we would loose a month of the hunting season. Some rabbits are bred in Febuary but alot are in March so if you wanted to have the season as long as it is now we would be killing alot more of next years rabbit population. Here in WV I only have 2 weeks after the first day it comes in to hunt with all the deer gun seasons. I never take my hounds out when I know there are hunters with high powered rifles out in the woods. I wish they would move gun season for dear up into October so I could get some more rabbit hunting in myself.

The way I understand it, the extended season is only for private property? no state grounds?

Feb. can be a cold windy month. I think all should report what is taken during this extended two weeks, to see what impact it has.
I don't shoot many but like the opportunity to carry the long gun over my arm when I can... ;)
When I was a boy, I used to carry a spent shotgun shell in my pocket just so I could smell the burnt gunpowder while at school... was I a peculiar boy or what? After school, it was straight to the squirrel woods, the guns were kept behind the seat of the truck and the cab was stuffed with boys full of anticipation and bushy tails on their minds.
What good times those were... ;)
