Your gonna have to help those puppies go potty. They need to be stimulated with a warm wash rag. You can put peanut butter or butter on their butts to help her get the idea. Some are just slowwww!
yes this is the first litter, thanks for the info, we lost two last night they were super small. talked to a buddy and said use cloth, so thanks, Dave klein told me the same. thanks guys
I had one do this, she had a dead pup still in her...take her temp., 101.2 is normal. Infection and fever will make her care little for the pups. You should act fast, a dead pup left in can rot the uterus.
Best of luck...Patch
ps...a greenish discharge is normal, brown smelly stink is not...
we put the peanut butter on the 2 living pups ,it worked for now, we lost another male pup, the 2 living pups seem to be strong, we give some goats milk and then put them back on momma, she is resting and feeding, wife said she is cleaning them now, thanks guys
Thats good! They certainly didn't die from not getting clean. I'd keep a close eye on them for sure. If the bitch had a dead one inside her she'd be deathly sick. I had that happen. My bitch whelped 5 live puppies and a 6th dead one was not coming out. we waited just overnight to take it out and she went septic on us.. she lived but, it was touch and go.
guys, the two remaining pups are ok, just got back from doggy er. nother is is well ,we are to watch pups through the night, so thanks for info. first time this has happened in 11 yrs of owning hounds.
