Running Beagles

Post by beagletrainer »

I was just wondering if any one was running there beagles and how they were doing? I`ve been out with my dogs and its pretty dry out and theres a lot of small rabbits yet. But they find a few adults and run them pretty good for the senting conditions its real dry around here with no rain for weeks. The half growed rabbits seem to find holes and hole up fast. I have a qeustion for the beaglers out there i run 3 dogs a male and 2 females 2 of them the male and the older female run neck and neck and the 2 year old female she`s behind them about 10 feet will she speed up or stay the same speed the males her dad but she hasn`t been run for a year she`s been with pups right after she started running good. this summers i`ve been running her alot but she`s not speeding up.

i been running about every day seems like the dogs run pretty good after the sun comes up but early seems like they hit n miss on some days but better later in the morning, the dog should speed up a lil bit the better she can run the line the faster she will get now thats my opinion n my experince with my dogs maybe she just needs a lil more exrerince im shure you will get different opinions jb

In my opinon if your dog is running 10 ft behind your other dogs that is not a bad thing probaly means she is running the track I agree she could tighten up a little but like duece said that will come with time myself I would rather see dogs run 10ft apart running the track than see a bunch of dogs swinging for the front

Been running every day or night that i've been off- right now scenting conditions are poor, we've had no rain for almost 2 months, so it's getting very hard to jump many bunnies. Hopefully that will change this evening- i see some rain clouds heading my direction on the radar!

Missed a week but other than that, getting out every other day and the running has been good. Its cooling down now so we don't have to worry about the heat taking a dog.
